There's a difference between kissing ass, lying for votes, fishing for support - heck - buying support . . . and people choosing to support you.

I don't want any politician to try to buy my view like McCain did with tossing Palin into the frey on the hopes that I'd vote for her and support her because she's "like me"

I have little respect for people who are 'won over' by various campaign tactics - such as those who suddenly supported Clinton after he tooted his horn on Arsenio Hall.

I feel that most people don't approach politics and their candidate-support seriously enough. . . so if someone's vote needs to be 'bought' then they should probably just stay home.

    I voted NO.
Politicians of whatever hue have no feelings towards those they are elected to serve.
To a Politician you are merely a vote.

But simply because I could benefit from them doesn't mean that they are philosophically the 'right' thing to do. I would prefer to sometimes work harder if the only other alternative is taking money from somebody else who has done nothing wrong but work harder than I have so far and therefore makes more money. I know this isn't the case for all people who make more money than I, but if it's the case for even one person, I will be against the legislation.
Great post, however you better watch out. I was called an idiot when I said I would vote against my own best interest if it was in the best interest of the country.

    Same here.

In fact - someone's specific words were that I was a "morally ill conservative"
But in the same week someone else called me a 'jacked up liberal'

*sigh* No one loves me. I belong no where.

My Dad is an example of someone who votes against his best interest - or beliefs - for the sake of the country as a whole (in his view it's for the better) - he's a Democrat-minister but he's against Gay marriage/gay rights and abortion . . among other things that are of the Republican Ilk. . . . in fact - when I found out he was a registered Democrat and voted Democrat often I was thoroughly shocked.

The right cares for a most important and often oppressed minority

I want a party that will look out for us syntax payers, we keep the English language afloat while the illiterate get a free ride off of our backs.

Nobody cares about the minority unless they're in the minority.
"I do not claim that every incident in the history of empire can be explained in directly economic terms. Economic interests are filtered through a political process, policies are implemented by a complex state apparatus, and the whole system generates its own momentum."

The "right" ,IMO, does not care for the minority, it is NOT where the money is.
The "left" does, or they seem to.
We need a political party that "cares for" the majority, the American working man.
Is this where the "tea party" comes in??

Re: Does the right (generally speaking) care for the minority?

I want the party that wishes to give far more power to the poor than the wealthy.
"We’re going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share. In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that’s crazy." -Reagan
