Re: Should killer sharks be killed.

Sharks can actually be classified as the most easily avoided man-eating predator that exists.

Why kill the shark when every single shark attack involves someone doing something that puts them at risk for being attacked by a shark?

Do we attack the section of ground where somebody went "splat" after someone dies in a skydiving accident?

In the water, human = snack for sharks. Outside of the water, human =/= snack for sharks. Pretty simple. Until the mother****ers grow legs and show up in Cleveland, there's no point to killing them as retaliation.

No, sharks do that by natural instinct.
It would be like killing a man for pooping.

just to demonstrate the frequency of shark attacks

Even considering only people who go to beaches, a person's chance of getting attacked by a shark is 1 in 11.5 million, and a person's chance of getting killed by a shark is less than 1 in 264.1 million. The annual number of people who drown is 3,306, whereas the annual number of shark fatalities is 1.

We should definitely kill the water when someone drowns.

Re: Should killer sharks be killed.

I was about to post "Well, duh, of course you kill the shark if you can," but I read the replies first... ho-ley COW.

You don't let any animal that attacks a human {unprovoked} live. Period. I grew up with that rule, as a kid on a farm. Animal attacks a man, it dies.

The sole exceptions would be if the animal was unduly provoked, or if it attacked someone who needed attacking, like a dog biting a tresspasser.

Other than that, you put them down.

Tigers, lions, puma, wolves, coyotes...if it attacks humans, it dies. Why? Because any animal that attacks humans once may do so again.

So there's no proof of sharks being serial human-biters? I don't care. They might be serial humanivores, that's enough to me. Bite a human, get killed.

Why? Because we're the *********ing dominant species on the planet, and everybody else ****ing gets out the way when we come through, that's why.

The reason you put down land animals is becuase they can become a threat to people.

Sharks are never a threat to people. People are a threat to themselves. By going in the water and impersonating a seal (which is what a surfer is to a shark) we are provoking them.

We may be dominant on land, but in the water we're snacks.

That's because we ain't played Cowboys and Sharks yet.

Is there proof-positive that there's no such thing as a serial maneater shark? If so I will recant. Otherwise I stick by it: if we do happen to catch a known man-biter we end his "tale" right there.

On land, I can agree with this. But in water, were in their domain, and they are top dog.
