Over all the Catholic Church does a lot more good than the harm caused by Pedophile Priests.

I and not now nor have ever been a Catholic but I have had a lot of friends who are,and they went to Catholic schools and they turned just fine.

The Pedophiles are few but they need to do hard time when discovered.

Id bet if you were to analyze the religion, races and ethnicities of all known pedophilles....you would find its cross's every line...

Ikari, most inflammatory statements are worthless...often that's what makes them so inflammatory. Take name calling for example. It's worthless, it adds nothing, yet it's certainly inflammatory.

I just don't see how silly and obviously worthless statements should draw emotional response. How are we defining "inflammatory", anything which inherently and immediately pisses someone off?

"Inflammatory" usually describes statements that are made for the purpose of pissing someone off. It seems to me that the premise behind this thread is inflammatory.

But maybe not. Perhaps the idea is that Catholic churches are somehow incompatible with elementary schools. Parking problems maybe, or something.

No, the idea was that the Catholic Church seemingly had trouble with pedophilia and that the leadership of said religion went so far as to protect priests and cover up, not really Christian. Normal individuals who would have done this would be in jail and not allowed that. So should an organization which essentially defended pedophilia be trusted and around kids if we say this behavior isn't allowed in individual?

I still find it silly, though Rome's response to this was very very VERY unfortunate. But this thread isn't really about that.

So, is it just statements? Just words which can be inflammatory? Can it be action?

Ah, and now the real reasons the thread title is not inflammatory to you comes out. ;)

I did not make this thread for the purpose of pissing anyone off. I made this thread during the whole ground zero mosque controversy to make a point that you shouldn't condemn a whole religion for the actions of a few.

I get the point you were trying to make, although I think it's too simplistic to say that's the only reason for opposing the GZ Mosque. I don't think you're intent was to bash the Catholic church, but you were making a connection between Catholics and child molestation. That's pretty inflammatory. Many people post inflammatory things to get a reaction or to stir up the conversation. There's nothing particulary wrong with that but it doesn't make the statement any less inflammatory.

Other than trying to blame all Muslims for 9-11 by claiming the mosque is somehow a victory mosque for the attack on 9-11 then what other reason is there for opposing the mosque?

I don't think you're intent was to bash the Catholic church, but you were making a connection between Catholics and child molestation.

I just used what negative thing many people associate with the catholic church which is pedophilia, even though only a small percentage of catholic priests engaged in child molestation. Just like many people associate terrorism with muslims even though only a small percentage engage in terrorist and support terrorism.
