    Credit check: Should be illegal to check
    List of previous employers (we call all of them) - OK
    Background check - Criminal? In some situations thats ok
    psychological background check - thats not a background check or personal history so that is A-OK

    medical check - Should be illegal to check
    record of clearance - who sings it?
    and a plethora of others - no idea

    I think in cases where you are dealing with secrets and there is a threat due to bribes, it is ok. Also in cases of handling cash or accounting positions. Otherwise, I agree it should be illegal.

    I think if the person does their time with good behavior and is considered rehabilitated and no longer a threat to society, potential employers should not be allowed to inquire.

    I agree with that if its anything beyond a job performance evaluation. (can lift 50 lbs, can stand for long periods of time etc)

    My point is who decides whats needed? If I owned a deli, I'd run the same checks. It's my business and it's my right to know who is working for me. If you don't want to be subjected to my inquiry then work elsewhere.



    I am confused though, Are you seriously saying that a day care center shouldn't be allowed to run a background check on folks and exclude felons and other criminals?

    You can select what you wish to search on when you do a background check.
