I was having children back when people still knew that cloth diapers were used as diapers, and not for garage rags.

Sams is just a cheap, crappy knock-off of Costco.

Its not a knock-off of WalMart. Its different with a different demographic. Thing is, I feel that Sams is a rip-off depending on where you live and what type of stores are around you. Here on the NW side of the Chicago suburbs there are MANY better choices just not for bulk, but for everything they carry.

I was having children when the only kind of diapers you could get were cloth. They also were fold your own, not the pre-shaped ones you buy today. And we used SAFETY PINS, otherwise known as diaper pins, with cute little duck and bunny heads. They also were $3 a dozen, and made great dust rags when the kids were potty-trained.

don't know but My wife is a member of both and she says the check she gets back each year pays the membership fee. She does most of her shopping at those two places other than for dinner etc.

Agreed, we have been members of Costco for many years and have spent thousands of dollars there. We live about 4 miles east of the largest Costco in the world.

I've been in several Sams and all of them were more expensive than Costco (and sometimes than a regular grocery store) and didnt really carry anything in bulk. For example, they would have five pound bags of rice, except at Costco you can get (and I do) 20lb bags of rice and for only a few bucks more than the five pound at Sams.

I find it's only practical to go there if you are looking for large quantities of very specific things. If you are doing general shopping then you are going to end up with a cart full of huge quantities of everything, and pay through the nose for it. I guess it's useful for business.
