Don't ever buy diapers at costco, they are not of the quality you get in the supermarkets. :prof

LOL - it was the same quality when I shopped there :) If quality changes depending on location then you shouldn't buy that brand at all. . . that's just poor business practice and leeches off the customer.

They were an infierior product... The huggies at Costco. blew out and leaked. The ones at the a&P did not. ;)

Yes. I buy Chicken for $2.80 lb and Turkey for $3.15 lb at Costco. At the store Chicken is $4.80 lb and Turkey is $4.99. There are a number of other things that have this level of savings as well.

Go with all-in-one cloth. No blow outs and no leaks. Plus you spend $250 on diapers ONCE and they last for two kids.

I only eat farm raised, free ROAMING (not range it's a crock) chicken fed a natural diet. I refuse to eat that nasty proccessed stuff. yuck.

These stores are designed for those who have big families, big events and even people who operate small businesses and in this regard you save money and it's worth the fee. That said the average family of two I would say no it's not worth it.

Seems like a messy handful... literally.

It's not as bad as it sounds. They have sprayers that attach to the toilet to hose off those messy diapers. I thought it would be horrible too but it's pretty quick and clean.

I think the fees for both stores is now $50 a year for the priviledge of shopping there.
Ive looked at both stores and havent really found any bargins that I couldnt find anywhere else. In fact in some cases the prices were more (IE: meat) And on top of that the lines are generally long AND they dont even give you a freakin' BAG to put your crap in! :doh So what in the hell are you paying $50 for?

So is joining a warehouse worth it? Am I missing something?

Costco is God's gift to the world. It is the best thing since sliced bread (which they sell btw).

There is no way in hell I would do that. Of course I dont have kids. I dont want kids.... I dont want to be around kids.... I dont even want to see kids. Kids are like little drunk people.

No I see no point in it. I guess if you had a large family, then sure but I see no reason for my to buy a package that has the equivalent of two gallons of ketchup. Besides, I don't eat a lot of processed food if I can help it and that's where your savings are going to be at a place like those.

I save a ton more money and get much better quality by going to a farmer's market once a week. For instance, on my lunch break today, I went to the market up the street that they have every Friday and I spent $16.00. I got a 3 pint mix of blueberries and strawberries, 10lbs of oranges, a couple pounds of baby bok choy, 1 lb of broccoli, 1lb of zuccini, a head of cabbage, 1 lb of cauliflower, and 2 cucumbers.

You can't beat the price or the freshness.

I was having children back when people still knew that cloth diapers were used as diapers, and not for garage rags.;)

Sams IS Wal-Mart, they're the same company.

Sams is just a cheap, crappy knock-off of Costco.
Exhibited a bit of redneck basis are we? :)

Its not a knock-off of WalMart. Its different with a different demographic. Thing is, I feel that Sams is a rip-off depending on where you live and what type of stores are around you. Here on the NW side of the Chicago suburbs there are MANY better choices just not for bulk, but for everything they carry.

I was having children when the only kind of diapers you could get were cloth. They also were fold your own, not the pre-shaped ones you buy today. And we used SAFETY PINS, otherwise known as diaper pins, with cute little duck and bunny heads. They also were $3 a dozen, and made great dust rags when the kids were potty-trained.

don't know but My wife is a member of both and she says the check she gets back each year pays the membership fee. She does most of her shopping at those two places other than for dinner etc.

Costco, very much so. Sams Club? Couldn't tell you, as I wouldn't do business with any part of anything the AntiAmerican schmucks at Wally World Corp. are part of.
Agreed, we have been members of Costco for many years and have spent thousands of dollars there. We live about 4 miles east of the largest Costco in the world.

I've been in several Sams and all of them were more expensive than Costco (and sometimes than a regular grocery store) and didnt really carry anything in bulk. For example, they would have five pound bags of rice, except at Costco you can get (and I do) 20lb bags of rice and for only a few bucks more than the five pound at Sams.

I find it's only practical to go there if you are looking for large quantities of very specific things. If you are doing general shopping then you are going to end up with a cart full of huge quantities of everything, and pay through the nose for it. I guess it's useful for business.

Welcome to Costco
I love you
