I'm not sure I would consider love for one's parent sexuality. I'm not saying it's not part of a developing sexuality albeit in a round-a-bout way, though. I've always cared for both my parents. I was truly blessed to have such great parents.

Oh I loved them both (still do) but my feelings for my Dad were on another level.

And yeah they say the first person a girl falls in love with is her Daddy and I find that to be true in a lot of cases.

10, I am not saying I wanted to bang my Dad but I did have tingly feelings for him and think that is pretty normal:)

Freud agrees.

Freud agrees.

I'm pretty sure that I'm correct when I say many people thought and still do think Freud is a nut job. Take his dream theories for instance.

You've obviously never seen any Pedro Almodovar movies.

Is it gay stuff? I can't get into it. That's just it though, do I have to. I don't mind them getting married because that wouldn't cause any harm as some may think, but if I don't care for their intimacy can't I say so WO being labelled. I'm thinking the answer is no. You either love the whole enchilada or you're a homophobe of the worst kind.

I don't think this is true. I think the problem is that we usually only get the extremist POVs. Or rather, they're the ones that yell the loudest, so they're the ones people hear the most.

I am adamant about giving homosexuals complete equal treatment, but I really am not comfortable with PDA from anyone. I don't think it should be illegal, and especially not if it is only enforced on certain couples and not others. But I do wish more people would at least keep in mind that some things are inappropriate and/or just rude to do in public, such as groping, heavy petting, french kissing, and sharing intimate details, no matter if we're talking about two men, a man and a woman, two women, or a whole group of people of one gender or mixed.

Is "the whole enchilada" a euphemism?

I mean, considering its shape and all............

Wow, serious thead drift.

Well put yourself in my shoes. I am not into women but all of the imagery in the media is heterosexual. In the movies it's straight couples kissing, etc. It isn't really a turn on for me (well, maybe if the guy is attractive) but it doesn't offend me to watch it. Just because you aren't gay doesn't mean you are incapable of appreciating love between two people of the same sex. I have heterosexual friends who are couples too. Wow, what a concept!

Exactly. I'm happy to see connectivity and love anywhere, anybody. It's healthy and normal. Going too far I might say "Hello! This is not a spectator sport" but other than that, no problem.

I'd rather see that than fighting couples taking their show on the road.

I don't think it's an all-or-nothing thing.

I think most people are straight, and then some are gay, and some are in the middle. It's more of a sliding scale. Some gays can be attracted to the opposite sex every now and then and some straights can be attracted to the same sex every now and then.

But I also think that it's part of you -- I don't think you decide who you're attracted to, you just decide whether you are going to act on it.

Personally, even though I am very much pro-gay rights, I have never been attracted to another guy, and never had any fantasies about it. My wife, on the other hand...

The bottom line of course is twofold: (1) Who cares? and (2) What business is it of anyone else?

I can appreciate gay love, but there's a reason most of the movies are heterosexual, and it's all about the numbers. Never said gay sex offended me, but I'm sure some of it could.

I don't think it has much to do with numbers so much as it has to do with politics. I've seen plenty of weird human behaviors in movies that don't represent many people in the populous at large, but they still make it to the big screen for entertainment value. Gays are exclusively targetted for censorship. There is a whole sub-layer of media culture pertaining to the portayal of very normal, day-to-day things involving gay people that is being excluded from the mainstream willfully.

The only way that people can accept gays in the mainstream right now is as villains, comic relief, hairdressers, makeup artists, dancers, and interior designers. It's progress, but it's not nearly enough. The day when I turn on the t.v. and two gay people are part of a popular, prime time t.v. show while not being the main focus or their homosexuality being part of some grand plot, I will think that great strides have been made.

And now cowboys. ;)

All minority groups have faced this same stereotyping in the entertainment media, and many still do.
People in general do not like to have their belief systems challenged or their comfort zones expanded. They resist it vehemently. It has to be forced on them, in most cases.

Yes, by things like "judical activism"! :)

I thought the movie Latter Days was really good. Started out a bit cheesy but well worth the watch.

It's not mainstream, though.

Have you watched Torchwood?

I'll type the end of the third video, where John is told that his tests indicate he performs as a gay man. In these tests, women perform higher than men and gay men perform higher than women (for anybody who chose not to watch the videos but still joined the discussion. Everybody owes me Starburst Jellybeans to thank me for transcribing.)

"Sorry, now I'm getting funnily emotionally upset now. No, but that's good. It's because it is, it's um, it will challenge people, it will - and I'm so glad that that has come out because for so long, so many people have lived under the kind of stigma and the attitude of that, you know, it's a choice and you choose to behave this way ... dammit."

So - I guess it is the business of those who want to educate those who judge?
