How Much Longer Will America Last?

We invented rock and roll. I don't give a flying **** what the australians think, except for spudmeister.

Once South Park is shown in China it will be all over for them. We will corrupt their minds with it.

I don't think China would risk a war. They have had too big a taste of the good life. This is their best time in history and they are not going to fuk it up with a war because they are too smart for it.

They are ahead of us in many ways because the neo-cons have been dragging the country into the gutter and going backward. They are ahead of us in alternative energy (who is not) and big oil doesn't control them yet, like it controls this country.

The best way for the world to survive is with alternative energy sources and breaking away from our addiction to oil.

Affordable energy would raise the standard of living for the whole world. It is the solution, not war.

Turtle face (Mitch McConnell) will be gone in a little while as well as the traitors who would destroy our country for their personal gain.

No sh!t! God bless the real America that we used to be.:2usflag:

How are we fast approaching a date that occurred 9 years ago? Maybe we should put mathematics as a higher priority.

Well for starters I said average which is the mean of all of the past civilizations averaged out time wise. I think that we should put mathematics, civics, and history higher since to reach the 225 year mark for the United States under the Constitution of the United States will be in 2014. (1789+225=2014)

As a Respected World Power, finished.
As a respected armed nation, that will continue until such time as another nation has armed forces with as much strength and mobility as the US armed forces.

i pretty much agree. when people like janet napolitano and nacy pelosi hold positions of power in your government, you know something oisnt right.

Nah, I have to disagree. We've still got too much on the ball to make assumptions of this magnitude.

That is until the bill collectors come and take it all away...

Stupid comes and stupid goes. Goodbye stupid.:banned::2wave:

The US needs to return to a manufacturing economy, become an exporter of resources, return to more American/capitalist values, and fix the debt problem. The American culture also needs to be reminded what once made us great. I can guarantee it wasn't socialistic policies.
I concur but I do not see it happening.

In general Americans are fat, lazy, and ignorant.

Then again what do you expect people to think when 40% of Americans don't believe in evolution but that the Earth is 6,000 years old.

Others have already caught up. China is a world power, and the EU has the potential to be.
China and the EU are both world economic powers. They are not true world powers in that they cannot effectively project force outaide their region. Only the US can do that. Both are militarily vulnerable and unable to defed those vulnerabilities.

My prediction is that it will (in a sense) fall, and then rebuild. We are on an unsustainable path to self-destruction, but will have what it takes to rise again. I don't know if there will be another internal war, or if our financial situation will be our undoing, but I do expect it will happen. Then again, I'm no psychic.;)

I agree completely.

If we have a war with china, who will we borrow money from and where will we get our arms without an american manufacturing base?

History tells us empires don't last forever. From the Mongols, Rome, Greece, and the Egyptians, to the Ottomans, Aztecs, Incans, and British, you have an allotted amount of time to be "the man" until everyone else catches up.

Now, America isn't what it once was. We are viewed as fat, lazy, and ignorant (at least by the Aussies and Brits I talk to)And what is their source of information? Not that I agree or disagree with them..

We have a government that loves wasting money. Debatable, but not a fact. We have a tax code that robs the winners to feed the losers. In your opinion, only Hell, we babble about freedom, but a woman can't sell her body and a man can't smoke a little mary jane.

Will there be another civil war? The progressives (thieves) vs. the capitalists/conservatives?

Well, I forgot to add the Poll and you apparently can't after posting, so just state your opinion.
Not all is peaches and cream in America
but this adds to people being fat.....
We have many problems, there are many improvements that are necessary to achieve "peaches and cream".
And the conservatives are perfect?
Read some history, stay away from Fox.
And, those who really think that we have an empire are delusional.

Lest we forget, our military, the world's mightiest was out-done by Islamic terrorists with balls and box-cutters.
Islam seems to be the next "empire" - as long as fear and ignorance prevail.....

Err...no. Under the US constitution that 225 year mark will occur on September 17th, 2012 (OMG end of the world coincidence!? haha) The Constitution was signed in 1787, not 89.

You might want to double check your facts since I have the Constitution as being fully ratified at the end of 1788 and the government being elected for the First Session of Congress being in 1789. The Constitution shows that the delegates to the Philidelphia Convention have finally agreed and signed it on September 17, 1787. At this stage, it wasn't ratified by the states. I give you the National Archives and Records Administration, which shows that the US government started to function on March 4, 1789. However, it didn't have a practical existence until April 6, 1789. This still makes the year 2014 and the 225th Anniversary on March 4, 2014.

Q. When did the United States government go into operation under the Constitution?

A. The Constitution became binding upon nine States by the ratification of the ninth State, New Hampshire, June 21, 1788. Notice of this ratification was received by Congress on July 2, 1788. On September 13, 1788, Congress adopted a resolution declaring that electors should be appointed in the ratifying States on the first Wednesday in January, 1789; that the electors vote for President on the first Wednesday in February, 1789; and that "the first Wednesday in March next [March 4, 1789] be the time and the present seat of Congress the place for commencing proceedings under the said constitution." The Convention had also suggested "that after such Publication the Electors should be appointed, and the Senators and Representatives elected." The Constitution left with the States the control over the election of congressmen, and Congress said nothing about this in its resolution; but the States proceeded to provide for it as well as for the appointment of electors. On March 3, 1789, the old Confederation went out of existence and on March 4 the new government of the United States began legally to function, according to a decision of the Supreme Court of the United States (wings v. Speed, 5 Wheat. 420); however, it had no practical existence until April 6, when first the presence of quorums in both Houses permitted organization of Congress. On April 30, 1789, George Washington was inaugurated as President of the United States, so on that date the executive branch of the government under the Constitution became operative. But it was not until February 2, 1790, that the Supreme Court, as head of the third branch of the government, organized and, held its first session; so that is the date when our government under the Constitution became fully operative.

Our military wasn't outdone by Islamic terrorists. Our government law enforcement (and other) agencies were off guard, and we as the population were complacent and unaware of what can happen.

I tend to go with the Declaration of Independence for the start of our country. 1976 was the Bi-Centennial year. What country are you from?

His original statement:

Historically speaking, governments last an average of 225 years

The current US government was formed upon ratification of the Constitution.

just to point out; an international conflict with China would justify us negating the securities they hold; significantly reducing our debt.

China's demographics indidate that she is going to get old before she can become a world-spanning empire. India is going to take her place in the latter half of the 21st Century as the Big Asian Power. the EU is teetering on the edge and in no position to replace the US as the dominant power; and Brazil is overrated.

the US will remain as the biggest power in the world for some time, however, whether or not one is a superpower in fact is whether or not one is willing to be. in that regards, thanks to our current administration, we are already choosing to become less relevant.

No, no! The Federation will take control and go where no man has gone before.:aliens1:

That's my birthday...How’s that for coincidence?

And, as I cannot allow anything bad to happen on my birthday, it won't.

There, now no one should be worried.
