Right now I feel it's necessary to point out that our economy went into the ****ter WHILE these cuts were in place.

I'm trying to remember the sad pitiful days in the 90's when those making over 250,000 had to pay 3% more. OH GAWD THE HORROR!! It's painful to think about.

spoken like a true tax consumer-maybe you ought to start paying for what you use and stop demanding that others carry your share of the load

a 3% increase is about a 10% increase in the taxes you pay

Of course if you had to pay more you'd whine its unfair even though you probably use more than you pay for

Sure, but that's no reason to believe that raising them will have no adverse consequences. IMO we need to prioritize the short-term problem of fighting the recession; we can tackle the deficit problem when the economy starts to recover. While I'd rather have another large dose of stimulus spending, I recognize that that isn't likely to happen. As such, extending all or some of the tax cuts for another year is probably the best economy-growing policy at our disposal.

    I can't. This is important.

and the economy went in the toilet in 2000 when the clinton hikes were in place

cause and effect is tough to prove but the Bush tax normalization (clinton hiked taxes remember) helped get us out of the dot com bust

an easy question-if it could be proved that a 95% tax on all income over 100K a year would "help the economy" would you be in favor of it? what about forced sterilization of anyone with an IQ under 100?

there are lots of things people can justify for the greater good that are manifestly unfair to individuals.

I think it actually shows that our economy centers more around what our government does/doesn't do with their spending than how much they have to spend.
