A good alternative is to have a solar water heater. It relies on black plastic tubing inside of a glass case. Doesn't need full sunlight all day, just enough to heat the black plastic. I have one...works great.

The owners of the windmills should be forced to pay royalties, the same way the oil companies do.

I've spoken with people who work in power generation. Wind turbines are very nearly useless as a large-scale source of power. When you consider the amount of power required to make the components, and the amount of power required to maintain the wind turbines and produce replacement parts for them, factor in the man-hours that go into same, the irregularity of the wind, etc.... the net production of electricity is low. Efficiency is low, VERY low compared to nuclear.

Even solar, with its high startup costs, is better because it is more predictable and the maintenance costs are far lower.

Wind turbines are little more than a green publicity stunt.

This is green energy compared to other sources. The turbines are immense and the homeowners object based on ascetic considerations. They value their view.

What do you think. This has been a huge controversy in these parts.
I think the homeowners are full of themselves. They should all just shut the **** up. They have no problem with putting chemicals which kill wildlife on the precious green lawns. They are living an illusion of **** dreams. **** em.

Remember how much the first computers cost? The ones with 500mb of hard drive? Now, look what they cost. It's the same with any prototype product when it first comes out. Hell, calculators used to cost at least one hundred dollars and now they give them away free in a box of crackerjacks.

    How do I feel...

    Meh.

Personally, I think wind turbines are perhaps too space-consuming for the power output they produce.

But I could be wrong, as I don't know the details.

On the plus side, obviously, they likely have a lower overall pollution level, depending on how much their construction and maintenance puts out.

Be nice if indestructible, maintenance-free wind turbines existed…

I’ve sometimes wondered as the possibility for taller wind turbines allowing farming to take place around their bases…

Would allow more efficient use of the land, I would think.

But then there’s the whole falling blade danger…

Unnatural air movement affecting the crops...

Hmmmm...Oil filled seas suffocating and killing all marine life and leaving some folks in financial ruins or having to deal with a slight humming noise?

and it's the 21 century people..I think it's safe to say that anything erected in neighborhoods filled with children is going to be fairly safe. "but, but, the winds could blow and send blades at people", give me a break! It's a damn windmill, if it storms great! more electricity for everyone.

I spoke to someone today in windfarm country. She told me that a friend of hers has 2 windmills on her property and earns $1000 monthly!

If you have good constant class 2 winds or better, you can rely on wind energy for your home easily.
There are certain areas of the country where that is a very good investment.
