There are no restrictions on purchase or ignition where I live.

I would however prefer that the sale and ignition is controlled so as to prevent accidents.

    Re: Fireworks!

Around here some lazy day sparklers aren't even in anyone's repertoire. Everyone here seems to go for 'the biggest bang' - sounds of explosions, not just some sizzlers, can be heard all over - along with the firing of munitions and the loud party sound of bumpkins drinking and partying.

And with every huge bang that rocks the air - is a chorus of hoots from people across town.

It's quite entertaining - and it's unwise to venture outdoors after dark when they really get going.
A screaming comes across the sky.

This particular incident is typical of why I would have Fireworks sold to people who are competent in staging displays.

His choice, his problem. If someone else is harmed, appropriate civil or criminal penalties. Prior restraint, no.

If ya blow a hand off, that's your problem. Gov't isn't there to protect people from their own dumbassity.

That's a shame, but every year millions of people shoot fireworks and manage not to hurt themselves. A few do get hurt. The statistical odds may be better than driving in a car...

    Re: Fireworks!

Last night was probably a world record night for the longest chain of firecrackers ever to be set off - I think it lasted for 20 minutes, no kidding. . . it just kept going and going. My husband and I were outside playing metallurgy in the bonfire trying to figure out just how much money people spend every year on fireworks - high flying shots and such that are performance-size can't be cheap.

    Re: Fireworks!

CO is kinda strict on fireworks. Basically most flying forms of fireworks are illegal. But Wyoming doesn't really care, and is about 30 min from my place. So it doesn't really affect me much. A short stint up 287 and I can get all the fireworks I want; year round.

    Re: Fireworks!

It's illegal in PA, and vendors in other states aren't supposed to sell to PA residents. However, no one really cares. We were shooting off mortars at my friend's party the other night, and the cops didn't care
