    In elementary schools, perhaps.

Indoctrination it is. It is also a healthy expression of nationalism and establishing national unity through innocent means. Just because one nation uses a common method of national unity does not mean that they are necessarily the same as those who used the same methods and then some in order to merely start the process of employing their gross form of governance.

The US represents pledging allegiance? Since when?

The pledge teaches nothing about the US at all. Not a thing, unless you consider children pledging allegiance to a ****ing government to be what the US is all about. Sounds more to me what China would be about, but not the US. In fact, it flies directly in the face of what the country stands for. It's pretty much the exact opposite.

This is not me being a smartass (mark the day and time), this is me trying to understand what you're telling me:

A daily recitation of the pledge, which possibly includes a flag in each classroom, teaches children about the US, the flag, and what it represents?
I'm already gearing up for Finger Vote 2014.

Just for reference, means my post was a giant steaming pile of sarcasm.

I recited the Pledge at the beginning of class every day while I was in elementary school.

See how I turned out? You too can be a patriot, as well as American youth throughout the country.

Surely you are aware that as long as it's from a human perspective, there will be a slant?

It absolutely should. If the pledge were mandated by law that "under god" phrase would get tossed out right quick

You both miss the point. It's a reminder of what the flag represents and of taking pride in one's country. This is what it represents.

How is it that? It doesn't mention anything that the flag represents.
