I have personally never gotten a ticket, but here in Nashville cops are borderline abusive when it comes to ticketing and the like. Plus they lie about your speed and make up details to pass out tickets. If you take them to court you will win the case, but most cops hope that you will just pay the ticket and not waste your time in court.
    Ahh the internets.......
I knew I was going to see that one in here somewhere.
Fact of the matter is.... People rarely pay attention to signs along the highway. I do my own unofficial version of finding this out. Everytime I am on a DWI Checkpoint, Every car that passes I ask if they saw the Sign down the street that said DWI Checkpoint Ahead......

Out of 4 hours of checking cars on a friday night... 2 people see the sign. Trees and overgrowth my ass, pay attention to the god damned signs.

The issue is that there was overgrowth and the cops admitted to it. My dad didn't miss the sign, he couldn't see it through the overgrowth. It's one thing to miss a sign, and it's another to ticket people near a covered one. They literally had an assembly line of vehicles. Cops were acting dishonest and ticketing at an unfair speed trap.

Take it or not, but that's the facts behind what happened. We have dishonest ticket cops here. If you want, a few posts back I shared a story about when my mom challenged a ticket in court and won.

In terms of traffic enforcement....WAAAAAY too lenient. I always say that California could solve its budget crisis if they started issuing tickets. I almost always drive 5-10 miles OVER the speed limit and I would say that 50% of traffic wizzes by me like I am standing still. The main street by my house has a speed limit of 40 MPH, however, I would estimate the average speed is about 60. There is a wreck on that street about 2x a month...and I hardly ever see cops writing tickets....people drive like that because they know that no one is going to stop them.

In truth, people tend to drive to fast, at times, far too fast; speed limit sign or no..
Real estate taxes are a killer, better that the speed demons pay more and the the municipality and school taxes are lower.

I think speed limits in town are needed, but getting pulled over in the middle of nowhere makes me mad. Especially when the only person I've seen on my drive is the sheriff. That said, I think colorado usually does a good job enforcing the proper speed limits, but it still not my fault when I get a ticket.

The traffic enforcement is too lenient here. The parking police, however, would make the gestapo blush. $46 for an average parking ticket and worse when they tow you by the crooked tow truck operators.

I live very near the border of two states. I live in one and work in another, so I actually deal with cops from two different states on a daily basis. The cops in the state I live in are too strict, my wife has gotten tickets for going 5 over on the freeway. The cops in the state I work in are great, very laid back about traffic offenses. I can zip by at 10 over and not get stopped. Really the only people I ever see pulled over there are semi trucks, which is awesome. I've never received a speeding ticket, not even a warning.
