OK, now wait a minute. The premise of this question is basically, if Obama was some one else, could conservatives vote for him. Well, if I was some one else, I might be able to answer.

    No...the question is pretty straight-forward...

If Pres. Obama shared more Conservative values would any Republican member here vote for him? I'm not saying if he totally changed his political stance, but rather if he embraced a Conservative position or two would a Conservative/Republican member her jump on that Obama bandwagon?

So many of his views are completely or mostly opposite to conservative views, that unless the republican candidate were somehow further left than Obama, it would be unlikely.

    *shrug*
Things would have to be totally "Outer Limits" crazed to get me to choose Obama in the face of another oponent - like - Hitler would have to come back to life and run against him for me to vote for Obama . . . something like that.

He'd have to start with a record of conservative action.

The Obama would have to become a conservative, through deed, not word.
As such, I need never have to worry about voting for Him.

It always nice when a president supports conservative values although it's not the president that holds the true power. The ability to change laws, rights etc. is conducted through our senate and house of representatives, the president of the U.S. is basically only a figure head.

True, but he can advocate for policies that he wants and has the power of the veto, without a strong enough majority in congress he can hold the process hostage until he is heard.

This is true, but considering that there is a much bigger turn out for presidential elections I would say congressional and midterm elections are far more important. People who vote in the midterms seem to be far more informed than those who just turn out for presidential elections. Although having a one party federal or even state government in charge is inherently dangerous regardless of party, unless we have a true president and congressional members who abide strictly by the constitution

I agree in full, and concede that the mid-terms are crucial in any period for exactly those reasons for multiple purposes. Hopefully something gets done and real representation and sanity return to Washington.
