I say maybe. Is the atheist candidate a religious nut in the man made global warming fairy tale religion, is he one of those hard core atheist who think crosses should be torn down and removed from war memorials, does he have some idiotic idea the 1st amendment means no Christmas plays or Christmas lights on city property? Is like some Michael Newdow nut? Then no I will not vote a atheist. Most of the time when some politician says they are religious they are lying their ass off or they only attend church to give the appearance that they are religious for votes.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

However I respect your right to your religion but not to subject others to it as though fire and brimstone are real consequences to say lying, for example. I won't lament about your faith. I think people need to believe in something to have a reason to go on in life a motivation if you like. I just don't think any of the mainstream or less then mainstream religions have it right. So it is up to the individual but you shouldn't try to subjugate others as if you have it all figured out without any empirical data to back it up.
Where did I say I was offended? What's the difference between brainwashing and teaching? I said nothing about brainwashing, and when did I try to subject you to my religious beleifs?

Sure, as long as he/she wasn't a lib.

I'm not interested in inflaming a moderate and reasonable person like yourself into a messy argument. I am sorry if I interpreted your post incorrectly. You said nothing about brainwashing .. I did though regarding children and religion. With regards to subjecting me to beliefs I was not addressing you personally but rather religion in general. Sorry if I misinterpreted your post.

    religion makes no difference
So follow me into the desert
    As desperate as you are

And all the little pigs have God

Oh believe me...I know how to shine the light...not that it was that hard to point out and NOT that it wasnt INEVITABLE...which was my point from my first post. MOST 'Athiests' I know are just bitter angry unhappy little people...they are zealots...every bit as ignorant and twice as rude as the religious people they despise.

Right.. if you say so. Indifference to religious fanatics is a price you gotta pay to get a politician elected I understand.
