Do you consider investing or holding stock to be an act of greed?

No, but manipulating the market and fraud like the Enrons and Goldman Sachs of the world is greed. The stock market has become a legalized casino with gangsters running things, a huge con game, a giant ponzi scheme. The average, uninformed investor is going to lose his shirt. Many already have.

Greed is doing anything for money. Even ruining our future.

that ranks as perhaps the lamest definition I have ever seen on this board

you just undercut your lame definition.

The reason to own stock is to make money.

the reason most people work is to make money

No.

A rough time, perhaps. Maybe even a horrifically painful period, fraught with disaster and economic woes (Ooo, look at all the big words ).

But not totally "skrewed".

IMO we will recover.

But never to the exact same point, if that were the case no progress would be made.

Greed is not the desire to make money. Greed is the desire to make money using any means ethical or not without considering the consequences or the future. Owning stock has nothing to do with it.
