The first thing you do when you find yourself in a hole is stop digging - apparently DC doesn't understand that. If our government didn't stop pursuing the drug-war issues to pursue our war in the middle east we wouldn't be in this deepening pit.

But legalizing drugs? Would it stop this? No - it would just lighten up on the drug-users, the cartels would still be in business

Well it would depend on which drugs. I would be ok with legalizing most everything since I think it's up to the individual to decide for themselves. However, mass decriminalization of most drugs isn't a policy which could be reached, instead it would have to be of "choice" drugs. Most likely, marijuana. Making things illegal certainly encourages black market devices. It's the American way. Legalizing drugs would cut into illegal cartels and would allow for private business to create formal, legal businesses which can then be held to proper laws.

I would be okay with any natural drug that can be smoked, eaten, brewed into a herbal tea, or chewed in its natural form being legalized and I would want a law to go along with it that basically says if you get addicted you are on your own.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I'm okay with all drugs being legal to adults. However, anyone supplying a child with a narcotic for illegal or recreational purposes should get life in prison.

Legalize drugs, prohibition causes more problems than it is worth.

Since you voted bloody drug war, you also want children to get easy access from illegal drugs in the black market and not wanted it controlled by adults only.

How strange that you believe the Mid east Wars are about drugs!

    I don't. (I should have clarified this)

When our current situation in the M.E. started they took focus and funding away from the drug-wars and related things (such as in-prison rehab programs and so on) and passed it to the war-hand. Instead of focusing on getting drug dealers with their crimes off the streets they started to pay that attention to terrorists, instead. Thus, drug rings and gang activity and their illegal function exploded - being unchecked and far less scrutinized.
