Do you own or someone in your household own a firearm?

Born and raised in Michigan, and I have never personally owned any. My father had shotguns while I grew up, and when my brother was staying with me, he had a whole arsenal. I have nothing against guns, just have no interest in owning one.

I lived outside Flint though. If I was out west by Hundred-Grand Rapids or down in the rich areas outside of Detroit like Farm Hills and such, I'd not care as much. You roll down Saginaw Street in downtown Flint without something to scare off the dogs, you're asking for something.

I avoided the situations altogether and have been lucky so far, knock on wood.

If I lived in Flint, then yes, I would probably own an arsenal, and dogs(big ones), and anything else I could get my hands on. Have not been there in a number of years, but I found it worse than even the worst parts of Detroit.

I'm puzzled as to why anyone would volunteer this information in a public forum.

 confused:

Why wouldn't they? It's not like any one here knows who any one is out in the real world.

I think You would be surprised.

I have found a lot of info on people who use the same screen name in multiple forums in the past.

Especially someone with a mod status,... should know how easy it is.

People have been banned on this site, for example,..... for posting the personal info of others.

What would be the big deal of that anyway? The only thing that would worry me about someone from here knowing who I am and where I live is if they used phrases like "gimme your wallet or die" or "Hi, I'm Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC".

Hell, on my old MySpace I used to promote my business at the time.

I don't have any guns, never had any use for them.

Edit: I previously owned an old Springfield that my grandfather used in WWII, but I gave that to my father last time I moved.

Real men may trade there wife in for a gun but NEVER the other way around! ;)

I still own a couple from my hunting days. I have not fired them in probably a decade.

The second sentence is basically why I didn't mind giving up my guns. I barely used them anymore and I'm not particularly worried about needing one for protection.

1911, AK, AR15, Desert Eagle, Cx4 Storm, R1 :)

Nope. I used to own several hunting rifles that my grandfather had stored at his house, but when he died, we sold his guns and since I hadn't touched mine in years, I sold mine as well. Haven't seen the point in having any since.

I don't own a gun currently, but I aim to get one soon. (no pun intended) I'm going to take a handgun class, since I've only shot one a few times. After that, I'll purchase a handgun and then take some more advanced handgun classes, and likely some rifle ones as well.

Right now, I just have pepper spray and a mean right hook.

I'm not afeared. I'd post my name and address if the admin's allowed. Seriously.. wtf is anyone going to do that I'm not already at risk for just by way of living within the general population?
I've already had a couple stalkers. One that actually showed me a satellite image of my house just to let me know he knew exactly where to find me, even though I'd never told him my real name or where I lived. I let HIM know I had a shotgun in the house and knew how to use it. Who do you think was more afraid?

Several in fact. You can't perform your duty to the militia without guns.

That's true. Unless I get promises of nude sunbathing, I couldn't care where you lived.

Pretty much my sentiment. I have no particular interest in hunting, not worried about some totalitarian state trying to take over here, and I live in a low crime neighborhood, but if you want a firearm, knock yourself out.

I have thought about it, but its a fairly expensive hobby and I hardly need it for self defense. I'm rather more interested in handloading and gunsmithing than shooting itself.

I grew up in a house with many firearms. In fact, I still have a rifle at my parents house. However, I currently have no firearms in my home and have no plans to get any.

If you're worried about getting on some "government list", don't worry... you already are.

If you're worried about someone knowing you have guns at home... well, I don't know why I'd worry about that. So maybe they can somehow find out who I am and where I am... I wish them much joy of it.

When I'm not home, there are two dogs in the yard, and I also have armed neighbors who look out for each other's property, and armed family members living within a quarter mile. Trying to rob my place would be a really bad idea.

I have an attack chihuahua. He'll roll over on his back and let you think you can rub his tummy, but it's just a ploy. He's very smart like that. He goads people in with his cuteness and then BAM! Attack chihuahua!

This thread is useless without any pictures.

Honest, chihuahuas worry me more than rottweilers in most cases.

I can usually "charm" or "reason" with most dogs. A Rottie comes up to the fence barking like mad, and inside of thirty seconds I'm scratching his ears and inside the fence. No problem.

Chihuahua's are often an entirely different matter. Often they choose not to be charmed, reasoned with, or intimidated by the fact that I'm Godzilla compared to them. They'll gleefully spend the entire time I'm in the yard trying to bite my Achilles tendon out.

Good points for sure,... but I've already decided (where this poll is concerned) that I don't have any guns.

I'm completely defenseless.

I've got an attack chihuahua too, he's got a loud bark, but he's useless for anything but actign cute. Then again, I also have a male akita and he's extremely territorial and he weighs close to 200 pounds and anyone who invades his territory is history. I've got the bodies of cats, possums, birds, and numerous other critters that tried to horn in on his territory who paid for it.
