Re: At what age did you start masturbating?

I find it pretty hard to believe that I'd need to masturbate if I had access to the real thing.
Your wife might not feel like having sex every time you did.
You might be arguing or have some disagreement or feud going on, that you don't feel like resolving at that precise juncture.

Besides, masturbation is not the same thing as sex.
Sometimes, one might prefer to masturbate.
It's much quicker than sex, and one doesn't have to get all sweaty, and one doesn't have to worry about another person's needs and feelings, and it's just nice to be alone sometimes.
To me, masturbation is not an alternative to sex. It's a whole different thing.
For one thing, I don't have orgasms from sex (only from oral... and even with oral, it sometimes takes me 15 or 20 minutes to cum, which is not that fun for my husband because his tongue gets tired, whereas with my vibrator it only takes like a minute or two). So masturbation definitely has its appeal.
But it would anyway, even if I had multiple orgasms every time I had sex.

I just think masturbation and sex are both necessary (at least for me) to be a healthy, well-balanced person.
Intimacy with one's partner is nice; it strengthens one's relationship.
But intimacy with myself is important too.

Did you read the rest of my post? I don't really have sudden urges to do it anymore. If I masturbate, it's something I have to get myself to do, not something I suddenly need to get out of my system (this in contrast to prior years, as I said earlier). Maybe if I went weeks without it I would feel differently, but that has yet to happen. And masturbation is the same thing as sex in that both lead to ejaculation, which makes further ejaculation more difficult in the near future. Since I would definitely want the best possible experience when I have the real thing, that wouldn't be a risk I'd want to take lightly.

Maybe it's different for you because you're female. Males pretty much never have sex without orgasming, for one thing.

    Well, me neither.
I usually only masturbate once a week or so, and that's about as often as I have sex, too.
Me and my husband both are not very highly-sexed individuals these days (although he masturbates more than I do).

I don't know how reasonable a fear that is; most guys can go again pretty quick, except old guys.

Yet they seem to masturbate a lot more frequently than females.

I think virtually all guys masturbate, including married ones.
My acquaintances and I talk pretty openly about such things, and I've never known a guy IRL who claimed he didn't.
Then again, there's no reason to lie about it, especially on the internet, so it's not that I don't believe Harry (unless he's just afraid his wife will read his posts and get mad at him if he says he does).
I just think it's atypical, is all.
I always imagined there was some small percentage of men who didn't masturbate, but i thought these were extremely religious individuals and the reason they didn't was rooted in some sort of weird religious dogma.
I always imagined there was a slightly higher percentage of females who didn't masturbate, and that was probably because they do not have orgasms (some women don't; I've known women who have never had one), therefore it would be a rather pointless exercise.
Perhaps I was mistaken and there are some people out there who just choose not to masturbate for reasons unrelated to those I imagined.
Obviously, it's ultimately up to each individual whether or not they choose to do it.
I think it's really healthy. It feels like it releases good chemicals in your body.
I don't think one should have to wait for or rely on another person when one wants to feel that way.
But that's just my two cents; clearly, opinions vary.

Not saying I disbelieve it; I've just never heard any guy claim such a thing before.
Gary's never been into the masturbation thing. I really haven't either.
It's not like either one of us is against it or have never done it but orgasms are always better when we make love.

Just last weekend I fell asleep for about 20 minutes and when I woke up I was on the verge. All I would have had to do is squeeze my legs together. That would have been it. I waited until I felt like it was safe to move and went out to the garage to tell Gary he was needed inside.

I think for some people masturbation is an important part of their life but for other people it's not. The quality of orgasms I have when we make love is phenomenal.

I would chat with her when I'm feeling particularly snarky, but I wouldn't ever call her on the phone.

Eh. If I'm right and my libido's just hibernating, then I'll probably end up with a different perspective on this once it comes out of hibernation.

As for guys who do not masturbate. As I said in the first post in this thread, I don't think the urge to do it exists until it's been done at least once. If you haven't ever done it before you probably won't have any urge to.
