this is nothing but a failed attack against obama.

most of these things were spun by the right-wing

however I think we should cut military spending, put it towards social programs so that the people can benefit.

we pay for unnecessary wars while children in america go hungry and we have many living in poverty.

And what sort of defense would the US have?? Not to mention the fact that National Security (re. Military) is specifically mandated in the US Constitution, whereas Social Welfare programs are not!!

And what "change" would that be?? To transform the US into another useless Socialist Utopia??
If that's what you think, you should know the path to that started a looong time ago, probably before you were born.

Your problem being? That he is black? Or that he is a Democrat?

I think his point is that if Obama was white he'd

1) never been accepted at Harvard Law with his piss poor grades

2) he never would have been manufactured by the chicago skunk works operation to be a politician

3) and he never would have been president

obama got elected not only because he was a wonderful campaigner, but because he is bringing america the change that we need!

I find it so awkward that with all the possibilities regarding why Obama could have gotten elected president after the catastrophe that was 8 years of a Bush presidency - the one that seems most likely to people who think:

- that the Civil War was not about slavery
- that the reason black people feel they're being racially profiled is cause they're 'stupid'
- that 40 years of mediocre efforts to do away with wealth discrepencies was enough to undo 300 years of slavery
- that debating black and race relations boils down to catch phrases like 'get over it'

AND

- that bringing up countless examples of all the other people who've practiced slavery in who knows where does anything to strengthen their arguments,

is because he is black. So awkward.

----

I mean I honestly don't care. But the people who seem to bring up the subject of why Obama got elected are the ones constantly trying to boil the history of race relations in this country to stupid 3rd grade chit-chat. It's like the guy in the room who says 'The Civil War wasn't about slavery! It was about the rights of states to say whether or not we owned slaves in the South!' is most likely to be the one to say 'Obama got elected cause he was black!'

I believe this is called a "strawman"? Correct me if I'm wrong, you're making quite a few generalizations here, and tossing about accusations left and right.

I've had a change of heart. I was an Independent but now I consider myself to be a liberal.

Honestly, Obama is growing the stock market and is actually getting things done.

The healthcare reform bill really wasn't that bad, it is helping others receive insurance and now those with pre-existing conditions can now obtain insurance.

Plus, Obama has raised no taxes on the middle class like he promised. As far as I see things, he is keeping his promises and actually getting stuff done. Our economy is recovering and he is really bringing change to America.

No longer will we be constrained by big banks that are too large to fail, no longer will people be denied medical insurance either. Isn't it a good thing now that they are off the government's check and on an insurance plan?

Regardless, Obama has pulled no April fools jokes. He is keeping his promises, where is the joke in that? It's nice to finally have a president that's willing to put his actions where his mouth is.

It wasn't... If you studied the history of it, you would know that.

This is a stupid generalization, on both your part and anyone who actually thinks it.
- that 40 years of mediocre efforts to do away with wealth discrepancies was enough to undo 300 years of slavery
Anyone who thinks that is insane. By the same token, anyone who thinks we need to or could do anything to “undo 300 years of slavery” is insane.
Nothing can ever right that wrong.
The only thing to do is move forward and ensure it never happens again.

I would not consider the rollercoaster ride growth. The only thing Odumbo and the rest of the Dizzy Demo-Rats are growing is government

There are still some serious constitutional issuew with mandating coverage.

Plus, Obama has raised no taxes on the middle class like he promised.
Not yet, but he will.

"that 40 years of mediocre efforts to do away with wealth discrepancies was enough to undo 300 years of slavery"

Okay, so what would you propose? That the United States government take responsibility for blacks enduring 300 years of slavery?

Jobs are finally being created and the economy is looking better. With all recovery there will be dips, but the upswing has been larger than the downswing.

The Democrats are trying to save this country through government regulation. If we didn't allow the private banks to do their thing we wouldn't be in this crisis.

We'll see about that ;)

If George Bush were black he:
1) most likely would not have had a wealthy father to get him into HBS
2) would have got some jail time for his DUI, thus ending his political career
3) would not have gotten a cushy spot in the National Guard instead of going to Vietnam
4) never would have been president.

See how we can play that game? And it's not just Bush, we can jerk each other off all night doing the same thing for ANY president.

wow I haven't smoked dope since I was a teenager (those pesky NADA guys were always around after that) but whatever you are toking I'd crave smoking:mrgreen:

YOu could fertilize the entire cornbelt with that manure you are spreading

What jobs where?? Oh but I forgot, you love government over the private sector so one must assume government jobs.

The Democrats are trying to save this country through government regulation.
And killing the private sector in the process, Bolsheveik!
If we didn't allow the private banks to do their thing we wouldn't be in this crisis.

It was Fannie and Freddie, two Democrat sacred cows, that created this mess in the first place, Bolsheveik.

I'm sorry, but you're making claims without any proof. What proof or statistics can you show me that says jobs are "being created" and the economy is "looking better"?

So what exactly are you blaming the banks for?

If you had wheels you might be a trolley car.

Bush never would have been president if his father and Grandfather were not major league politicians--that is true

And Kennedy, Rockefeller, Al Gore Junior, hillary clinton. DIane Feinswine, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer etc never would senators or powerful congressmen but for their family connections either

BFD

Obama's race was his main selling point and got him Harvard Law among other things

being white allowed Bush to join the Air National Guard? All white people have wealthy fathers? White people always get out DUIs?

Correct. Every politician (or every human being for that matter) would not be where they are, if not for something in their lives which they had no control over. So remind me why you're bitching about Obama's race again?

He was president of Harvard Law Review and was a tenured professor at Chicago. I'd say maybe intelligence has something to do with it too. ;)

All black people get into Harvard Law School? All black people are accepted by the Chicago political machine?

okay, I'm ready to start tap dancing around what is being asked, and what has already been asked. Do you believe Obama's race factored favorably into his winning the 2008 election?

HE WAS NOT A TENURED PROFESSOR AT CHICAGO

he was a LECTURER

he also was the only HLR president anyone can remember who

1) had nothing published
2) made no effort at a supreme court clerkship

btw that is a popularity position-
