Texas did it. People may not agree over whether it was a good idea or not, but it happened. Get over it.

Why should they get over it if they do not agree with it? Besides, we're talking about the education of our children here. Why shouldn't people feel passionate about the debate one way or the other?

Problem is that most of the rest of the US uses those Texas text books.

Considering how badly American history is taught as it is right now, what's the worse that can happen?

This is like giving a crack addict more crack. He's already ***cked up.

Thomas Jefferson, inspiration to Simon Bolivar, was not as important as St. Thomas Aquinas in regards to revolutions. Nuff Zed. :doh

It's not that people are passionate about it that's annoying, it's that they feel the need to start new threads on it every single time one more thing happens.

"Oh, the board is making these recommendations!"

*starts thread*

"Oh, the board is voting on these recommendations!"

*starts thread*

"Oh, the board approved these recommendations!"

*starts thread*

I used to just merge them, but it's no longer any use. There's a 400 post thread where everyone had their say, and now people are just starting threads over again and going back to the same dumb talking points that we heard 2 months ago.

True, but I wanted to bring up my point in a visible manner.

Not everybody here read the thread you are talking about. This is really a big ****ing deal as far as I am concerned.

It's kind of funny that a state that wanted to secede from the union is writing textbooks for it.

Maybe some people would like to bury their heads in the sand but I don't.

Texas school book depository.

I just saw a clip about this on the news. They voted to include jefferson in the textbooks but also voted not to include james madison.

It's obvious ideological bias. The right wing rings nuts have taken over.

I look for a new publisher to compete with texas school book makers, soon.

There should be a national boycott of texas school books.

I'm not worried because I'm pretty sure that nowadays kids don't get educated according to the textbook anyways. Instead, I think they'll get educated according to whoever they talk to about the subject matter at home, in town, on forums, in chat rooms, and social networks. They'll also likely be more inclined to follow a website than a text book. So no worries here.

If people want to discuss what a bunch of backwards hicks are trying to impose on the nation's young, disguised as education, what damn business of yours to attempt to silence them?

You don't like 'em? Don't freakin' read 'em. Problem solved.

Backward Hicks at least don't cost us money

Hey, where are you at exactly in NC? I got orders back to Camp Lejeune.

I think he's said he's up in Boone, but only part of the year. I'm in the hippie wonderland of Asheville.

I live during the school year in Boone, but right now I am working in Raleigh.

Have you ever been to NC for a prolonged time MSgt?

Raised a bit there and was stationed for a couple consecutive tours.

Right. If you want to complain about these things, you can always go to a Bulletin Board specifically designed to allow for debates about it.

Oh, wait....
