Seeing how the president of Mexico blasted Arizona for its illegal immigration law I have to wonder if we should copy Mexico's immigration and anti-illegal immigration laws, in other words should we treat illegals the same way Mexico does?

Yes the same exact thing
Only some of their laws
We should not treat illegals the same way Mexico does
maybe/I do not know/other

FOXNews.com - Obama, Calderon Blast Arizona Immigration Law During White House Visit

President Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon joined hands Wednesday in blasting Arizona's controversial immigration law, with Obama calling the legislation a "misdirected effort" after Calderon slammed it as discriminatory.

Treat them the same and show Calderon for the hypocrite he is

Too bad none of the reporters asked Calderon if his blasting Arizona for their anti-illegal immigration means that Mexico will repeal their anti-illegal immigration laws.

I say we used a more humanitarian approach to the illegal immigration issue. Accept that most illegal immigrants are here to be productive and to make a living. Create an accessible avenue for them to become tax-paying citizens. If they do not wish to become citizens, then they should be able to get permanent or temporary residence or a worker visa.

Why should these people be jailed just because they are trying to find a job?
Why should these people be considered criminals just because they are trying to escape the war-zone that is Mexico?
Why should these people be looked down upon for only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families?

Lets not let emotions cloud our judgment. These people are human beings too.

Why is it people on the left and Obama will not use the correct word. They want amnesty to reward those that have broken our laws

I think they should be treated more harshly than they are now, but I wouldn't go that far. However, I do think that they should not be allowed any sort of public services.

because they are knowingly breaking the laws of a sovereign nation

if mexico is such a warzone, they should apply as refugees, not cross the border illegaly
Why should these people be looked down upon for only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families?
you're right, and if a man snatches a purse off a little old lady because he's poor, we should just let him go, why should the rule of law apply to those at a disadvantage:roll:

they also knowingly break the law, they're human criminals, just like any other.

National Security isn't just a Martin Lawrence movie.

I didn't see anything in the cited article specifying what Mexican policies towards illegal immigration is. I'd have to know that before answering this poll.

What you don't think a country that blasts Arizona's anti-illegal immigration law and tolerates millions of their citizens invading the US would be a bastion for illegals in their own country?

I don't know their policies. I know they used to be quite strict and wouldn't allow non-citizens to own property. Not sure their policies now.

I voted we should not.

We as US citizens are better than that.

Lead by example, and don't sink to your rivals level.

Mexico has a single, streamlined law that ensures that foreign visitors and immigrants are:

in the country legally;
have the means to sustain themselves economically;
not destined to be burdens on society;
of economic and social benefit to society;
of good character and have no criminal records; and
contributors to the general well-being of the nation.

The law also ensures that:

immigration authorities have a record of each foreign visitor;
foreign visitors do not violate their visa status;
foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country’s internal politics;
foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported;
foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported;
those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison.

McCain-Kennedy Immigration Reform Bill vs. Mexico's Immigration Law - HUMAN EVENTS

Remember.... Arizona's new law is racist, discriminatory, and doesn't reflect an enlightened society.... at least that's what Mexico's President says.

Mexico is a racist country where the underclass consists predominantly of people with a great deal of native blood. The ruling class likes to siphon this problematic excess population off on the U.S. rather than make their society more just to all people.

Let me just stop you right there. The people immigrating to the United States from Mexico are NOT a "problematic excess population." They tend to be MORE motivated than the average person, since they took the initiative to come here in the first place in search of a better life. Or as someone put it in an article I read a couple weeks ago (unfortunately I don't remember the writer), "It takes a certain amount of get-up-and-go to actually get up and go."

Why do they come here to a racist nation like the USA. And why do they work so hard at not getting caught and deported. After all the United states is full of mexican hating bigots, Has nothing to do with the rule of law right?

I voted "no," but only because I know that not every illegal immigrant comes from Mexico. Off the top of my head, there are illegal immigrants who come in from China smuggled in cargo containers brought over on cargo ships. Once they come over, they are used in sweatshops or brothels as indentured servants to pay off the price of their trip over here. Naturally, few ever do.

So no, I don't see why the U.S. should deal with illegal immigrants from any country the same way Mexico treats it's illegal immigrants.

Look, let's be real here. We created pant****ter Mexico by enabling the problem for so long, and now the perception is we are taking the nipple away with this new law. What is the pant****ter supposed to do in this situation?

Quite the well-reasoned, erudite response there.
