    Re: Is this racism?

Heavens no, it's not racism. People really need to get a life so they can worry about something more meaningful than someone thinking their handwriting is crap. I work with a guy who has atrocious handwriting. I tell him he writes like a chicken. I guess I need to tell him he should be offended.

So MOD, what are you trying to do, single-handedly stamp out racism? That would leave some people without anything to feel guilty about, and others without anything to bi*ch about.

LOL, it's just to say that I didn't really give a crap about the guy's damn race. He gave a crap much more...

A quick left hook, followed by a front snap kick to tha Junk, should pretty much get him back on point. Ill manored people often must be called to task, for insulting comments. Unless it's true, then buy the guy a beer.

''After this episode however, I'll be very leery of anything but a business like relationship with him. ''

Yeah, I am wary of the person who was offended by what I said at work too. Mostly, because I am not the first person it happened with, so it is highly likely that my humour would not be appreciated, if I make more jokes in this persons presence.

I have an autopilot friendliness I put on, when I am walking on egg shells with somebody. I think it can be the only way to handle work place arguments, to prevent them turning into an annoying time wasting things.

Honestly, I'm clueless regarding them. They are good workers, seem nice, appreciate being in the U.S., but some are insecure and don't mention about where they come from... Does that sum it up?
You just don't know what is going to put someone on edge, or what someone might have said to that person in the past about being filipino.

That's not his problem, that is the Filipino's problem.

That's very true, like I said in a previous post, esp when someone is tired or stressed.

At a previous workplace, at the time I was a fairly devout Catholic. It's fairly socially acceptable to make anti-Catholic remarks, and I constantly was hearing snide comments, mostly from non-Catholic Christians, or ex-Catholics. It really got old. Anti-Catholicism is considered a politically correct and acceptable prejudice actually, so you don't have much recourse.

Sometimes it's the sum total of small, ignorant remarks that can push one over the edge, I agree...

    So what?

It is upon the poor widdle easily offend able individual to recognize that another person is not aware of their personal problems.

I mean seriously, we are making a big deal about someone criticizing someone else's handwriting and using a comparison where the other person just happens to be from the same country. This is NOT what my vice president would consider a
    Big

"I condemn the ideology of White Supremacy and Nazism. They are thugs, criminals, and repugnant, and are against what I believe to be "The American Way" "
Thus my obligatory condemnation of White supremacy will now be in every post, lest I be accused of supporting it because I didn't mention it specifically every time I post.

Racist? Borderline. Its more like the guy sounds like a dweeb trying to make a really lame insensitive joke. The comment itself isn't "racist" per se, but that fact that he would try to make such a dumb quip evidences that the guy very well could be racist. If I had to bet on it, I would say yes, but probably not always overtly.
