Reported I think a few days ago already but only now being mentioned in the MSM.

Politico said:
A State Department official's expression of regret in human rights talks with China over Arizona's new immigration law has sparked sharp protests from conservatives, but a State Department spokesman didn't respond to a request to comment on the concession.

The AP reported that Assistant Secretary of State Michael Posner told reporters that "officials also discussed Chinese complaints about problems with U.S. human rights, which have included crime, poverty, homelessness and racial discrimination.

Ok. The U.S. has some warts. We're not perfect. And a frank discussion with China about our general foibles and imperfections as a country, about policy isn't such a bad thing. But let's dig a bit deeper.

Politico said:
QUESTION: Did the recently passed Arizona immigration law come up? And, if so, did they bring it up or did you bring it up?

ASSISTANT SECRETARY POSNER: We brought it up early and often. It was mentioned in the first session, and as a troubling trend in our society and an indication that we have to deal with issues of discrimination or potential discrimination, and that these are issues very much being debated in our own society.

Politico said:
Writes Power Line's John Hinderaker:

What an idiot! China murdered millions of its citizens who opposed the government's Communist policies and allows most of its people little or no freedom. We, on the other hand, enforce our immigration laws. No, wait — actually we don't. That's why Arizona had to take a shot at it. Oh, by the way, Michael Posner, you clueless moron — China actually does enforce its immigration laws.

Perhaps if Obama dealt with the illegal alien problem, by first building a fence, he wouldn't have to feel like he needs to go to china to apologize for AZ enforcing federal law.

I doubt very much if our corrupted sensationalism based news is reporting the truth.

Any intelligent ideas on how to do this, Rev?
Forget the fence - the stupidest idea of this generation, and a horrible waste of money.

Sanzari Construction, they build the hell out of things around here.... Have you seen the "xanadu" mess here in NJ?

They could build a wall out of that at half the price.

Why. Calling an idea "stupid" without explanation don't count as intellectual discourse my friend.

Is that my only idea?

nah, major Jail time for any employer who knowingly hires an illegal alien. Major jail time for any illegal alien who fakes documentation, then immediate deportation bill sent to mexico.

So you want to be like China and build a Great Wall of the United States?

Thanks but no thanks. I don't need my Government to wall us inside our country.

What a fool our president is. He is totally acting like a spoiled child in regards to this AZ law. He doesn't like it, so he prances around talking about how it's a racist violation of human rights... His administration is literally starting to make me sick. He doesn't understand why the law was passed and spins everything to reflect some pseudo-reality that he wants to live in and accept. The AZ law is not racist, it isn't a violation of human rights either. The true violation of human rights is not upholding immigration laws and allowing the US to be invaded be illegal aliens.

This is truly absurd. Where have all the grown ups gone!?

Why is it a stupid idea? It works for Israel.

The American people are getting fed up with the illegal immigrant problem, and frustrated with the communities that harbor them. Those communities, such as the Mexican American one, seem to be at odds with the whole meaning of citizenship, but instead more identifying with their own ethnic group as 'their people'. This is really the antithesis of the American ideal that Obama claims to share.

For him to go apologizing to foreign leaders for what is an internal dispute in these United States, is a slap in the face to his own citizenry, especially when apologizing to a nation that routinely violates the basic human rights of citizens without remorse.

Obama is pandering for the Hispanic vote. They have a high birthrate, after all, and are the up and coming minority group. Didn't they go for Bush in the election?

Countries should acknowledge their human rights abuses, with an intention to improve. Sometimes, this acknowledgement is most appropriately expressed in the form of an apology.

Can someone show me where the apology is? All i read is that the guy said we have problems we need to deal with and have debates on within our country.

Where to start. AG responded negatively to the Arizona law without reading it. Homeland Security (ditto). Not sure if Obama read it or not, but he is misinformed. With all this going on, has the Administration done anything to control the border? No. Has the Administration done anything to more to assist Arizona and other border States on the illegal issue? No.

To apologize to China is way out of line. Some politicians and others are reacting to what they think may happen and not what the law requires LE to do. Has anyone heard of an alternative out of the Administration? No. Will Congress deal with it soon?, No.

My stance is ok. For those who are against the AZ law. Then require the Feds to control our borders (north and south), stop the illegals from coming in, and help the border states with the illegal issue. No more words, we want action.

If you are refering to the Az law. What abuse? The law has not even on the books yet. That won't happen till July at the earliest.

Why doesn't he move to China so he can be with his own kind?

He, like Eric Holder has not read the law.

No one is keeping you inside this country. You are free to leave whenever you want. If you think that a wall turns us into the Soviet Union then you are sorely mistaken. A wall keeping people out is entirely different than a wall keeping people in. It's like the difference between a fence in your backyard and a prison wall.

Open statement to CHINA from the American Citizen b.larset. We appreaciate your concern for our seeming indifference to the guiding principles of Freedom Liberty and equality. We assure you that since you lack the moral understanding of rule of law in your society you simply cannot recognize ours when you see it in action, as is the case in ARIZONA. The law must be followed by us so we can maintain order and instill a sense of JUSTICE-unlike
your one child policy where you merely enforce the will of the communist party leaders and kill innocent human beings - you know for the good of the MOTHER LAND or Main Land or ... anyway . Thanks and tell the OBAMA administration come 2012 they can all go home and rest, our federated repblican society wont be needing them to apologize for us anymore. Were gonna try something else. AMERICA RISING

the Great wall of China was built to stop the mongol invaders....

It worked.

I'm sorry for being a stickler on this everybody, but can anyone here show me the apology? Was it in the OP?

I find it hard to believe that someone would make a thread with a false claim just to bash Obama, mainly because we've already hit our quota for those today ;)

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...d-regret-chinese-arizona-law/?test=latestnews

"Spokesman P.J. Crowley, in an interview with Fox News, disputed the notion that Assistant Secretary of State Michael Posner was apologizing to China, saying he was actually "standing up" for America by describing how debate functions in a "civil society." "

Well notice, the OP didn't assign an opinion and the OP identified a poll assuming (badly) that folks would utilize Bling or Google to learn more from multiple sources.

Yup, right there where it says he's allowed to play golf. "Not covered under the Constitution".

Extremely relevant considering what I posted that you responded to. If her life was in danger (as it is with asylum cases), then it would been totally assholish of him NOT to have helped her if he could have.

Depends on the law. If it hurts no one, then no I really don't have an issue with it. There are some perks to being president, that's just a given.

Hmm... here's the background on Ms. Onyango

NY Times said:
Zeituni Onyango, 57, who lives in public housing in Boston, is the half-sister of Mr. Obama’s late father and is from Kenya. She moved to the United States in 2000 on a valid visa and has been seeking asylum since 2002.

Judge Leonard Shapiro, an immigration judge in Boston, reached his decision in the long-running case on Friday. Her lawyers announced the decision Monday at their offices in Cleveland.

Ms. Onyango applied for asylum in 2002 and was rejected in 2004 and ordered to leave the country. She continued to fight the case and in April 2009, Judge Leonard Shapiro in Boston stayed her case until February, when hearings were held in the case.

Ms. Onyango had lived in relative anonymity in Boston until just before the 2008 presidential election, when The Times of London found her in what it described as “rundown public housing.

At the time, Mr. Obama’s aides said that he did not know his aunt was in the United States illegally and that “any and all appropriate laws” covering her situation should be followed. The aides said he would not intervene in her case and that the two had had no contact.

So it seems as though Mr. Obama is the asshole you proport him NOT to be after all. Given she was rejected and Obama claims he didn't know she was even in the United States until 2008 --- sounds as if he didn't know, didn't care or both.

So I'll say again - let's release the hearing information and let the cards fall where they may. If it's all on the up and up and Obama didn't interfere - the system worked and all is well.

I am unaware of a transcript that would identify the actual verbiage of the meeting. I suspect your questioning whether or not the word "apology" is the correct word or if it's being used inappropriately.

Instead of apologizing I would criticize Mexico for its culture of corruption. drugs, crime , the empire of evil. Let's see them try to argue with that.

Uh-huh.

And where is the apology?

I've googled it.

I've binged it.

This is more made up **** from people who care more about bashing Obama than telling the truth or even informing themselves before discussing a topic.

Awww... it's okay. Sorry your horse is getting a little ragged around the edges but that's what comes with the territory.
