I say 18.Its when you can legally go to a warzone, vote, be a legal adult, move out of your parent's house and buy cigarettes.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

18 was legal for beer when I grew up. If you are mature enough to go to war and vote you should be able to drink

18 for reasons cited above. One caveat: you should be able to drink under the supervision of your parents at any age. I personally think a glass of wine at dinner occasionally helps with drinking responsibly.

It should be at least 30.

if you want that, just come to Australia, in my state, the law is that you can drink under parent supervision at home or in the pub, but you can only buy alcohol once you're 18.

Eighteen. It's the age of legal adulthood.

Of course, I think the age of legal adulthood should be reduced to fifteen. But one fight at a time.

If folks would join the service, vote, act like an adult and stop looking to mommy and daddy (or the government) to pay the bills I'd be all for it.

Re: What should the legal drinking age be?

I'd be willing to lower the drinking age, if the driving age could be raised.
Driving is far more dangerous than drinking; it takes many more teen lives each year.
I certainly don't think people should be operating motor vehicles before the age of eighteen.
I'd be willing to switch the drinking and driving ages, actually: drinking at sixteen, driving at 21.
Many teens and probably nearly all young adults drink at home with their families anyway.
In many homes and cultures, moderate drinking- a beer while watching the game, a glass of wine at dinner, champagne on holidays- is a normal way of life that all family members, including minors, participate in.
Young people should be taught to drink moderately and responsibly.
By age 21, it's too late to teach them. They're long gone.
