    No society is fair, actually.

    We need a handicapper general.
I was discovering that life just simply isn't fair and bask in the unsung glory of knowing that each obstacle overcome along the way only adds to the satisfaction in the end. Nothing great, after all, was ever accomplished by anyone sulking in his or her misery.

I'm not aware I ever said that either. Some societies are fairer than others.

fair is a stupid term in politics or in world government

you see libs claim the rich don't pay their "fair share" of taxes even though they pay more than the bottom 95%

my concept of fair is pay for what you use or in the alternative, everyone deserves to keep the same percentage of the next dollar he earns.

your concept of a fair society appears to be one where the hard working and industrious are tasked with taking care of the lazy and untalented.

Some societies are fairer to you and yours, you mean...

All of life is a very subjective experience.

How are you coming to this conclusion?

I know your society creates more arrogance than ours. Arrogance in the absence of achievement.

    Truth.

I think I can finish this off with a Heinlein quote.

"Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded- here and there, now and then- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck."

Completely incorrect and you have missed the point of my original post entirely. Did you actually read it?
I was hard working and I was considered relatively bright. I was helped by the fact that I lived in a society where you could get into university on your merits and your motivation. It was free but they didn't take just anybody who rocked up on the day for a laugh and a free lunch because they couldn't be bothered to go to work. There was, believe it or not, an application and selection process to go through (I don't believe you actually need this explaining to you, like are you TOT's reincarnation or what?) Money didn't come into the equation, which was great for me because my working class parents didn't have two pennies to rub together. In many less fair systems, I would have been churned out into the workforce after elementary education and my full potential never realised just because my parents weren't wealthy.

No. I'm quite comfortably off now thank you, but I don't resent paying taxes to fund health care, education and public services to help those less fortunate than myself.
