Do you think it is ok to enter a country illegally?

With all of the statements regarding Arizona's latest bill to try and control the influx of illegals into Arizona/America. I though it would be interesting to take America out of the equation and simple ask.

Is it ok to entry another country, no matter what the reason, illegally? A simple Yes / No and Why?

I voted No!. No one has a right to enter into another country without permission and following that countries laws.

In the case of this question, the often-used phrase "It depends" is highly applicable.

There are a vast number of factors involved.

It is most definitely NOT a simple Yes / No question.

    Edit: And, indeed, nothing is.

If I had to enter a country illegally in order to work for enough pay to feed, shelter, and clothe my family I wouldn't only enter a country illegally, I would do it continually and determinedly.

    I voted yes! Why?

It is only ok if you do not get caught. This argument applies for many laws in which harm has not been cast upon others.

Reason be, if it were really a priority, the federal government would police the borders with a bit more purpose.

Is it against the law to speed? Yes. Does it mean a person is wrong for speeding? Only if such speed has harmed another individual. Speeding in and of itself is not wrong.
It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.

I think it is ok if you are trying to escape persecution or imminent danger. Otherwise, no.

However, if I had to do it for me or my family to survive, I would.

What about on a different scale, as in if one country is at war with another?

Is it ok or not ok for one to invade the other?

It would depend on whose perspective you were viewing it from.

I have to disagree. If you are in this country illegally, you have shown, simply by that act, to not respect the laws of this country. I very much believe in the rule of law, and do not consider it "OK" to violate those laws for benefit to self.

Ah, but his question was: "Do you think it is ok to enter a country illegally?"

So he could be speaking of any number of things.

    And thus, my response.

Idealistically, yes. The earth isn't bound by imaginary lines of separation.

Politically and lawfully, no, it's not ok.

And it holds true for any country. If you cannot respect a countries laws, you should not be there, period. I am not black and white on many things, but this one is pretty cut and dry.
