I asked the 80 pound strawberry blond sitting at my feet, and he said "Thor!, Thor!!".

    I respect his opinion, greatly.

Dogs for me, rescue dogs to be specific. It's difficult to describe just how much joy these loyal loving friends bring into your life. Yep, they take a little maintenance ans some time, but the "return on the investment" is almost too large to measure.

Except for a pig, I've had all of those at some point in my life. Gerbils are the most low maintenance, and pretty clever. It's ashame they got paired with hamsters in this poll. Hamsters are miserly, lazy little creatures.

I suspect the difference here is in the person, not the animal.

I love cats for their independence and toughness, and I love dogs for their loyalty and pack mentality.

I have had plenty of my cats come see me just to say hello. Of course they do that by rubbing on you with their cheeks and making little high pitched sounds and their tail is usually up, so a person may not always be able to recognize it.

I prefer cats. They tend to be low maintenance and they usually do not stink. Plus they can be quite affectionate and playful.
I've had all those pets, except for a pig.

I like animals and have a cat right now, I'm thinking about getting a dog but my cat acts like a dog.
    Rutabagas are awesome too.

I had a pet rutabaga once, but it was an awful pet. Never did anything; just sat there.

    So I ate it.

Wow. My ex-girlfriend was a great pet then.
