Obama would be a cake walk.
I think who won those debates were definately up for discussion, but Obama also beat McCain, Hillary, and Edwards. And besides, it doesn't matter who cites the more sources, its who makes the best impression on the voters.

    What?!?
    Are you kidding me?

Winners of debates make the best arguments based on factual, sourced information.

If you're in Mr. O'Connor's high school debate class maybe. We're talking about presidential debates.

    That's the whole point though.
You're supposed to win using the best argument with facts.

Winning the voters is meaningless, if the voters are wrong.

That's how it is supposed to be, yes. However, in this day and age of canned "debates" and stump speeches, it doesn't quite work the way it should. People are less likely to logically think about a problem and more likely to emotionally react. The winner of the debate is the one who wins the most votes. You'd like that to be correlated to the quality of the speech and the information presented; but it's not how it really goes right now. It's one reason why the system is starting to fail. When people stop voting on political platform and move to more partisan and emotional responses; the system begins to break down.

    sadly, I think you're right.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them fascist since they're not. But it does show some level of discontent voters towards the present make up and dynamics of our current government.
