In a perverse way, their application of self-censorship proves a point of view much more clearly than if they hadn't.

I find myself wondering, though, if they have been receiving some advice from the British when it comes to facing down totalitarianism?

I agree. Anyone know of any sort of campaign (for lack of a better word) to let CC know we don't like their pathetic cowardice and special treatment of terrorists?

It's not the job of a comedy TV network to face down totalitarianism though. Their job is to make money by making people laugh.

They censor other programs all the time, including stuff that would get them in hot water with American totalitarian religious freaks (i.e. fundamentalist Christians, etc.).

Why do you expect a comedy TV network to fight your battles against terrorists?

    I don't have a battle against terrorists.

I have an issue with a company who caters to terrorists. And, as a free American with the freedom of speech and a right to inform companies in our free market how I feel about their actions, I plan on informing them.

Sure, they're free to cater to the whims of terrorists. And I'm free to tell them I'm unhappy with their decision and I think they should shove their cowardice up their pansy ass.

I heard that there were death threats from some extremists from Islam.

Unfortunately, this is a tactic that they use and people don't want to be killed. It's a dilemma.

If Muslims want to be a part of Western societies they are going to have to grow thicker skins and get used to criticism of their prophet, and having him be the object of satire. They need to grow up as a people, and be able to withstand this without rioting or killing the critics. No beheading either. They are still immature as a people if they can't handle this without these out of proportional responses.

If the Muslim world wants respect and admiration, they need to grow up, quit hiding in the shadows, learn to play fair, and learn to take it like men.

Actually, it's all of our job.

Your apologia displays a failure in that regard on your part.

    That's a fair question.

Why should comedy writers have to risk death by assassination? I don't blame them for capitulating.

I think the best response to this absurdity is lots of publicity that makes the Muslim world look like the babyish fools they are. They are emotionally stunted. The only reason they are even afloat at this time is that many of their nations happen to have oil. If it weren't for that they would be utterly third world, they are incapable of playing by the rules of more mature nations.

It's up to each individual to make up his/her own mind what they want to risk their lives for. People have families to think about. Is it worth it just to make a tasteless joke?

    Cowardice?

You don't think they censor stuff every day to avoid controversy?

It's not their job to stand up to terrorists, or anyone else who might complain about what they broadcast. It's a stupid comedy network. Their job is to make us laugh and make money doing it.
