Who exactly is the "lowest common denominator"? Sounds bigoted to me.

Do you normally equate "lowest common denominator" with skin color? Around here, we mostly equate it with "too stupid to breathe without assistance."

Apparently, those of us who frown on Beck's antics are indiscriminately labeled as leftist barking moonbats.

Interestingly enough, I think that Beck frequently uses that terminology himself.

Wait. Is that a clue?

I was using the term barking loon or moonbats long before I ever heard of Beck

my wife likes his show

I prefer Law and Order or Lost myself

Then I'm going to guess that you're a fan of Glenn Reynolds et. al.

Bush was always more manly then Obama
You are not seriously starting in on this "my dad could beat up your dad" bull**** are you? Good gods do you honestly expect ANYONE to take you seriously?

Frankly, I find it amusing the effect that Beck has on libs (and even some conservatives). It's like watching someone throw holy water on vampires.

You know, old school conservatives don't really care for unthinking mindless zombiesque koolaid drinkers. They offend us, in principle, because we understand that living in a constitutional republic requires a populace with a modicum of rationality.

In fact, there is nothing quite as threatening to the future of this country as terminal stupidity.

He is a government controlled rutabaga developed in the Reagan administration with the aid of the mole people and kept under wraps till now.

How did you know!

I think he is mentally unstable.

Who said anything about skin color? Sheesh.

Again....who said anything about skin color?

That doesn't make it any less amusing. I don't see quite the knee-jerk reaction from old school conservatives as much as from young liberals.

Either we are doomed, or there really is a God.

There are several of us on this thread...Cardinal, for one. Me, for another.

Either we are doomed, or there really is a God.

False dichotomy. But, I think we're probably doomed.

Sure. If manly = sending other people's kids to die for your misguided ideas, and expecting other people to pay for the costs of that ill-fated and poorly executed war while your greedy corporate pals line their own pockets.

You lose me with **** like this Catz, you really do. Why stoop to hysterics? Nobody gets "sent to die". People(like myself) get(got) sent to win, not to die.

Be against it if you want, but IMO your better than this hyperbolic bs.

That's why I asked, Mellie. I was seeking clarification.

No you weren't. Your knee-jerk reaction was about race accusing me of thinking about skin color when I hear the term "lowest common denominator".

Still waiting on the clarification for that phrase.

It simply boggles my mind why someone would willingly watch someone like Beck. I watched him twice and that was all I needed.
Television is for sports, not news.

Ah, bugger. I get tired of the, "George W. Bush is manly" b.s. What in the hell did that monkey brains ever do that was manly? I mean, like ONE THING.

People's views are so freaking warped.

And for the record, thousands got sent AND died.

Also, did we win?

Our guys are the best, the bravest, in the world. Don't forget...I love a military guy. But they can only do as well as the plan they're given, and the plan was flawed at the highest levels. And yes, I lay that squarely on the shoulders of George W. Bush, because the buck stops with him.

We can win a battle, but creating democracy where none has ever existed is something entirely different. And, no, we haven't "won" that, yet. Furthermore, we're not even sure what winning means in that context. There is no clearly defined goal/objective. Even now.

I asked you a question. You had an opportunity to clarify. The end. Do you really think you'll be able to press this further?

You immediately jumped to a conclusion that wasn't implied. If you really wanted to know what I thought, you would've asked simply what I meant by "bigoted" not "Do you always think of skin color...."? Your question made no sense based on the conversation. The end.

The term bigot is often used in connection to racism. That's what I thought you were hinting at in reference to your comment about Disney's post. The end.

Or, are you just concerned that we're bigoted towards stupid people?

Too early to tell in Iraq, but signs are promising. Afghanistan needs more time. If you believe in womens rights, you should cheer every bomb we drop and every round we fire over there. If we persist, prehaps they'll get to do something so mundane as go to school someday and learn to read.

Many did die and more will, but considering the length of the conflicts, and amount of troops that have rotated in and out of combat after all these years, the rate is suprisingly low particulary with respect to other conflicts that have persisted over years with high amount of ground forces present.

Western "on demand" attitudes for results regarding complex situations is nothing but short-sighted greed and ignorance.
