Look, I'm sure it's not necessary and that TurtleDude can defend himself, but this is just uncalled for and comes off as more than a little petty.

You can agree with AA all you want, but there's no reason to personally insult TurtleDude, unless you can't debate the subject logically.

he placed himself as the subject for comment noting in his own circumstance how he was the victim of affirmative action

my observation of his run-on sentence and correlating that to his nonselection for a teaching position does not appear to be a mean or inappropriate rebuttal

dole out your further consequences, as i could not allow the misperceived illegitimacy of my rebuttal to stand without this self defense

so you think a chat board should require grammar and spelling equivalent to what one would use in a scholarly journal? In my experience, grammar nazis basically are conceding they do not have a legitimate response

The fact is, my personal situation aside, there is absolutely no dispute that affirmative action has, over the last 40 years or so, resulted in highly qualified white, jewish and asian students being passed over in favor of far less qualified black students. Same with jobs-we all remember the New Haven situation where white firefighters were denied promotions because they passed tests and the blacks couldn't.

Median Net Worth of Single Black Women in Prime Working Years: $5 naked capitalism
    I don't really get it.

Once they get past their childbearing/rearing years, single black women do better. Their net worth rises to nearly $60,000 for the 50 to 65 cohort.

    Neither do I.

It is a shame how people who speak out how the "welfare mentality" and blaming others for our own faults is attacked as racist.

Bill Cosby, spoke out on it and he was attacked just the same. And yet he opened doors for black entertainers in (at the time) a whites only industry. He was the first black man in a lead role on television with his show "I Spy" and yet he was attacked by blacks and whites alike for speaking the truth.

Chris Rock was booed by some for pointing out it's not the media waiting outside his door to rob him.

Time for the victimization of my race to stop, and it needs to start with us as a people. We need to show we can compete on a level playing field and win. The first blacks in the military through much adversity rose to the occasion and did just that. We need more examples like the 54th Massachusetts and the Tuskegee airman. Examples of blacks willing to overcome and not let racial hatred slow them down or stop them from attaining something in life.

They did not make excuses, why do others have to?

PS I posted this in the basement as well. Since it is my own statement and I originally wanted to post it here, I hope it is OK?

Love Bill Cosby. Have ever since I was a kid with the Cosby show and my respect for him has only grown as I have grown more mature. Well...older at least!
