Washington, D.C.

Nah, I have this personal philosophy against getting shot.

Besides, that city may be the largest slum in America, and that's saying alot.

Ooh, forgot about Antigua. I want to go there someday. My parents went back in the 1980's and a friend of mine went about a year ago, and they both said they liked it a lot.

My grandfather had a home on top of the mountain at ST. Johns, It's condos and the chinese embassy now. The house is now a resturaunt....

He sold out his bar to sandals......

Nice. Bet he laughed all the way to the bank after selling out to Sandals!

I've considered trying to immigrate eventually.

Is it difficult?

I think it depends where you're from. For some nationalities it's more complicated than for others. Also, European immigrants get priority over everyone else. It also depends on your financial means. If you're rich, you can totally buy your way in. I think it's what bubba was talking about earlier.

If not, what you need to do is find an employer first that will then file all the paperwork for your work permit. You can apply for the equivalent to the "green card" after a couple of years or you can apply for citizenship after 5 to 10 years, again depending on where you're from.

Switzerland, probably, but it's almost impossible to attain citizenship there.

Maybe Scotland or the Caribbean.

I figured that would be that case.

Most countries allow residency if you invest $50k-100k in their respective economy.
I think I'll be able to swing that eventually.

CHF is the hedge currency of the world, which is another bonus.

Like what? I'm really curious what would tempt a Libertarian from Texas to move here.

Switzerland is clean, beautiful, socially and culturally stable, and economically efficient.

Yeah, me too. I like the way the Federal gov is constantly kept in check. I like that most of the power is still with the individual cantons (states).

*siiiiigh*

I'm so jealous of you!!

I wouldn't flee. That's cowardly, IMO.

I think it's smart. Why wouldn't you want to live where the state and populace most agrees with your stances on a plethora of issues?

I can honestly say that, in the political debate world, almost nothing pisses me off more than people who say "I hate <country X> (usually America)" while living in that country. If you're over 18, it makes you a hypocrite. If you're under 18, it makes you a stupid little kid who probably doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. Either way, he loses.

That's because you don't have to deal with the Swiss Germans every day.

Too true!

Anyway, it's always been my dream, ever since I was a young boy, that I would someday become a Swiss banker. "Think of the money!!!" I would say to myself as I played with my Transformers...

I think a situation where I would feel the need to flee would be limited strictly to a situation where my family was in serious danger. My ancestors have soaked the ground of America's battlefields with far too much of their blood for me to take such an action lightly.

For me, Canada because its practically the United States just with less crime. Then Australia, and possibly China. China is not a bad place for an expat to live.

Canada would be my first choice though simply because of all the fishing, and wilderness.

Will you adopt me? My diaper only needs changing twice a day! Really, it's not that bad...:(
