I could make a lot of money doing that.

I selected "other" since "A load of crap" was not a option. Another one of those things to claim personal behavior is a mental disease just so the offender can try to remove any responsibility for his actions and try to make him or her self look like a victim. Kind of like one of those lard asses who try to say its a disease(even though I am pretty sure can not find any examples of obesity in Ethiopia unless the individuals make good money) why they are fat and not the two or three cheeseburgers they regularly shove down their throats, or some other behavior someone tries to pass off as a disease.

I'm addicted to cookies:(

It's a good red herring. After all, I don't know how many people would sign up for a "Aw damn, I got caught" clinic.

I am convinced that sex addiction is a real- though rare- phenomenon, and is typically accompanied by other forms of reckless, dangerous, and/or self-destructive impulsivity, which would effect other areas of sufferers' lives and functioning.

I think individual psychiatric treatment might help; can't say I see the point of rehab.
The reason people stay in live-in rehab centers for alcohol and drug addiction is so that they can detox in a medically supervised environment, and experience a few weeks of medically-supervised sobriety before being released back into their former milieu.
With sex addiction, I think any effective treatment is going to be fairly long-term, and nothing could possibly be resolved during a few weeks or a month of treatment in a live-in facility.

I don't think wealthy, famous, successful, and powerful young men wanting to have sex with as many women as possible is a disorder at all. I think it's the human condition.
I am skeptical that it can be cured.

You are incorrect. Drug and alcohol detox occur in a hospital setting. If a patient in a rehab facility goes into withdrawals, they get set to a hospital.

Not always. Some rehabs have the facilities and ability to medically detox, too.

Not really. My husband was in treatment for heroin twice during the 90s.
He never went to a hospital. Just to the rehab, that was right down the street from where we lived.
He left early both times, incidentally; finally kicked on his own.

Not in my area. I suppose, then, in the larger metropolitan areas?

I don't know.
I do live in a large metro area.
I would imagine many small rural communities don't even have rehab centers of the type I'm referring to; not that they don't have drug problems. I've heard meth and Oxycontin (ie, "Hillbilly Heroin") are rampant in small-town America today.

Not always. Depends on the rehab. Many, regardless of where they are, have a full time medical staff.

Sex Addiction is a very real thing and a lot of pornstars suffer from that and other addictions.

Can this be used as an excuse for things? Of course it can as with any other addiction.

Oh? That's interesting.
Anyone we might've heard of?
