    Legalize Hard Drugs?

I think we should legalize hard drugs to remove the criminal element from drug distribution and pay for treatment with taxes. Who agrees with me?

I think "yes," but with some regulations and restrictions. I think some professions, such as medical professionals, law enforcement, emergency responders, airline pilots, and similar types of occupations shouldn't be allowed to take hard drugs. Sobriety in their jobs is important because they hold the lives of other people in their hands.

Besides that, yeah, I think all other drugs should be legalized.

    I voted No.

I live in an area (Appalachians) that is notorious for meth. I do not want to see the people who cook it and distribute it ever considered legal.

Exactly. Meth is the only reason i would be against 'legal hard drugs'. Meth has literally destroyed entire communities in my state. Meth is one helluva drug...

If Meth was legal then the bad guys you reference would be out of business. Those who ingest it could be offered help to get off it.

Until then, the bad guys continue to make big money while law enforcement is burdened with trying to put them out of business. Addicts commit crimes to pay for their addiction and then give their ill-gotten money to the pushers.

Drugs should be treated as a social/health issue and not as a criminal issue as it has been now for many years.

I think it should be left up to state and local governments.

They don't have to be. Simply regulate the manufacture and distribution of meth in a manner that best suites your area.

Meth is a toxic chemical that takes HAZMAT to dispose of. It makes cocaine look like child's play.

    How is that true?

There is already offers to help those addicted to meth. Because Jimmy who cooks meth in his garage is now legal does not put him out of business.

Meth is a dangerous substance for both the maker and the user. It is also highly addictive.

I could go for it if we could designate specific cities as drug zones for all the addicts to populate. I don't want us to end up looking like Amsterdam.
