In a job selection situation, which factors are in general most important?

Select no more than 3 options please.

Just a curiosity about which aspect of a job you people believe is most important for people/yourself in selecting a good job. Lets assume the job we are talking about is above average waged from the beginning. What other factors(including better pay) is most important. Self employment things are not a part of this thread, it is about a job situation where a person works for a medium or big company.

In job hunting, I try to find things that will help me increase my income, however, if I come across an opening and I don't like what the company stands for, I will simply not put in my resume.

    Money - that's what you're sweating for.
Content - You can't dislike what you're doing with, most likely, the majority of your existence.
    Future - today's future is tomorrow's present.

Anything that allows me to have maximum free time and job security.

So.. High payment for example is more important for you than job stability? Say as in comparison a well paid job with temporary contract(that you are likely to keep), is more important than an above average paid job with a long term contract?

It depends on my situation. Right now I will go for something more stable until my wife finishes college and starts teaching. Once we have a basic income again, I will be more free to take risks. Life is fluid and ever changing though, which means my priorities must change with it, but with all things being even, I will try to climb the latter as fast as I can. I have been an ambitious person since childhood and I don't think I am able to not be one.

I chose payment, hours/benefits, and prospects. It's not like it was 20 years ago when you were greatly incentivized to stay with one company for the rest of your life. For many people (myself included), it's in our best interest to run around after minimal vestment and find the better opportunity. Job security is not important to me because I'm an accountant. It's a field that's quite in demand, and moreso with Obama increasing the IRS count. Also there is usually an inverse correlation between the amount of job security you have and your pay. Ethics mean nothing to me whatsoever (don't tell the AICPA that though), and most other factors just aren't a consideration to me.

I do what's best for me, right here, right now. If that's where I'm working, great. If it becomes someplace else sometime in the future, wave bye bye to my ass getting smaller in the distance.

It's very important to me to have a boss and co-workers that I like to be around, because even if the job is a crappy job, I like to have a good time while I'm there.

What is the situation under which you are looking for a job? Are you unemployed, or just coming out of college?
