I just wanted to gauge the mood at the moment on Sarah Palin.

I saw her last speech in Nevada at the Tea Party, and it doesnt seem like much has changed. She seems the same old gimicky partisan, hyperbole rubbish that she always was. I just don't see how any person even partially educated could see her as an attractive candidate for the highest office in the land (although she's certainly an attractive candidate for Playboy, but I digress)

Whats your views?

That pretty much covers my views, except that last time I checked, Playboy wasn't accepting dumpy, jowly 50-year-old models. Maybe Hustler or something.

Not Hustler either

British porno mags would be most likely

so tired of seeing her, of hearing about her, just plain tired of her period.

Unfortunately she will be around for some time as long as she can make some money for being famous for being famous.

There will always be people like this that one just wish they go away. I put Palin on that list with Ex Gov Blagojevich, Rush Limbaugh, Britney Spears, Fred Phelps, Ahmadinejad, and certain I left off some other morons.

I wondered when the daily 'rag on Sarah Palin' thread was going to be posted. I thought maybe you guys forgot!

She and McCain ragged on Obama about being a "celebrity," well ... ;)

She's a joke, a very good joke at that. We need to move on. She really makes conservatives look bad.

I think that because of her changing her mind on the so called bridge to nowhere, appointing a an abortionist to the Alaska Supreme Court Justice even though she claims to be pro-life, and the fact she quit her job as governor of Alaska she has basically got herself labeled a quitter and a hypocrite. If she ever runs for anything again she has no chance of winning unless her opponent dies is replaced by Chester the child molester two weeks before the election.

Actually, there has been several 40+ year old's in Playboy.

Farrah Fawcett twice, Nancy Sinatra, Shari Belefonte.. it is rare, but does happen :2wave:

I just wish conservatives and liberals would get over her.

She ran for VP, woopty doo.
Old news, better things to press forward with.

Conservatives, if you want to win the next set of elections, you're going to have to drop her.
She is so divisive that you will send people reeling away.

Liberals, don't cry foul every time she opens her mouth.
You're giving her the press coverage she wants.
There is no such thing as bad publicity.

I consider it good publicity, because its entertaining.

I think the reason many liberals twist and shout about her is because they see that she is popular, and the reasons for which she is so popular are ridiculous.

Otherwise I agree, stop fanning the flames and the flames will die out.

Exactly.

Honestly, I find her commentary vapid and silly.
I can't understand why any serious conservative would listen to her.

Palin is the queen of rhetoric. Why anyone would pay to listen to her blows my mind.

Celebrity, some find her attractive. Playboy would shell out big bucks to get her to pose nude if they thought she would, and big bucks for the airbrush artists.

No vote
Shes a typical conservative appealing to those with less education and intelligence.
But the "tea bagging" conservatives are real people and as such should be respected by the Liberals.

Why thank you ever so much. You managed to be insulting and condescending, yet call for respect for others all in the same post.

Impressive doublespeak. Perhaps you should go into politics.

Regarding Palin...

She isn't a serious candidate for any high elective office anytime in the near future.

She has her faults, yes. The unbelievable, unprecedented media smear campaign saw to it that those faults were magnified and highlighted and "in your face" every day of the campaign, and has continued the same treatment even after she is no longer a candidate.

If BO had had the same degree of media magnification and anal probing applied to his every fault, every questionable decision, every dubious association... he wouldn't have won the election.

I doubt anyone could survive that degree of media smear with their reputation intact, including Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reed, or for that matter Mother Theresa.

I could have cared less what the media said about her. I let her speak and I listened... and I didn't like what I heard, plain and simple.

It's really hard for me to judge her these days though... part of me thinks she represents some major views of the conservatives and other like minded people, so she deserves credit for rallying these people and encouraging more people to vote. Whether I agree with her or not is irrelevant... I for one would love to see every eligible voter in America voting no matter what party they vote for.

Another part of me feels she is feeding off of the frustration of the American people and encouraging people to vote a certain way while playing the same minds games the media played on her, but directed at the Democrats. Encouraging voting for conservatives is one thing (I for one would love to see more conservatives in office trying to bring down our debt and deficit while balancing power in Washington), but encouraging people to vote for a more liberal conservative (i.e. McCain) shows me she is more in favor of getting more Republicans in office. Independents can be conservative too! (Mostly I just don't want to see any politician getting re-elected this November :))

But personally, I don't like what she has to say... but that's mostly because she is too conservative and religious for me. Not saying those are bad characteristics... I just feel a middle ground is better than extreme left or right views. And IMO she seems like someone who would love for the Christians to be running the show in America, which I also disagree with.

Smarter than people think.

When was the last time a losing VP candidate got this much press coverage? I'm pretty sure the answer is "never". This is in large part because the press hates her. But her brilliance is in keeping the press hating her, and thus keeping herself relevant.

I realized this when the whole thing about her brother getting health care in Canda thing happened. She conveniently forgot to mention that medicine in Yukon wasn't socialized back then. But then, why would she mention that in the first place? The only reason I could see her doing it is to get the left in a frenzy about it, and then make them look bad for not doing their research when it's pointed out that the medicine was not socialized. It's the same thing she did with "death panels", and the "crib notes", and any number of Palin non-scandals. She cleverly says and does things in such a way that, without really making much of an impression on anyone else, drive her opponents bonkers, making them look bonkers, and thus making the right happy to have her. It's an amazing thing.

If you despise her, she has you wrapped around her finger, because you're doing exactly what she's set out to get you to do: keep her relevant.

Dav, the press loves Palin. Palin = ratings. Palin is controversial. The reason she gets so much coverage is simply that people react strongly to her, and strong reactions are good for ratings.

Don't forget Hitler, Stalin, and Satan. She's like those guys too

They started attacking her before anyone even knew anything about her. The backlash caused her to realize that the best way to keep herself relevant was to keep them at it.

Now we're at the point where when Family Guy makes a joke about her, it's all over the press. They don't do that stuff for any other controversial figure. She's controversial and creates strong reactions with people because that's what she's aiming for. Otherwise, she would just be a losing VP candidate... and we all know how controversial and reaction-producing those are.

The press reacted to the stories that began coming out about her shortly after she was chosen as a VP candidate.

That is the same ploy Fred Phelps uses. Quite successful if you want to keep your nickname as moron.

Two of them are already gone away. The third never was here.
Good try though.
