    Journaling

Do you keep a written journal or a blog of your life's activities?

If you do, why do you do it?

    Not entirely.

I have tried to write about my childhood in small essays, but each time I find myself feeling silly about the exercise and give up some portion of the way through it.

Part of me knows that some things would be helpful for others, but then the other part of me wants to poke that guy and say "yeah, right!"

    Re: Journaling

I think it would be interesting to write a journal and read it 40 years from now, just to help me remember the good ol' days.

    But no, I don't keep a journal

    Re: Journaling

I've kept one, more or less, since I was 14. I feel that the history of my life is important to me, and some day I want my friends and loved ones to be able to read it. It would also be a good ancestral piece for future generations if I have children.

    Re: Journaling

I've kept one sporadically throughout my life, beginning at age 5.
That was when I got my beloved "manuscript book".
That's what I called it, because that's what I was told that it was called.
It was a big brown leather-bound book with blank white pages.
I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
I filled every page; it took me a couple of years.
My dad still has that book somewhere.

But yes, at various low points in my life, I have kept a daily written record of events.
When things are going well, just going along, I let it slide because I don't feel the need to do it.

    Re: Journaling

I have kept a dream journal for years, though I only rarely write in it; only when I get very trippy or interesting dreams. I analyze them later.

    Don't judge me.

I am a man so no I do not have a diary/journal. Writing dairies/journals is something only chicks do..
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

i've tried sporadically over the years, never works out, self reflection ain't my strong point.

You cannot be serious, falling for such a foolish stereotype. Now, at age 70, I wish I had kept a journal(which men keep), the chicks keep a diary.........lol...).The problem is, it would have been lost, as would its replacement.... so the hell with it.
