Do you think there will be a major rebellion?

Do you think there will be an armed citizen rebellion or civil war against the government within the next 10 years?

No. I believe the differences the people in this nation have with the government and our system are rather insignificant. That is, when they are viewed from the perspective of the prospect of risking your life and the chaos of war. The vast majority of people would realize this long before things came to such a pass.

I believe there is alot of overblown heated rhetoric. I believe such things should be ignored, as it rewards bad behavior. When people return to pragmatism, rationality and a willingness to compromise, they should be listened to.

That's pretty much how I feel, but I think a question like this will yield some surprising answers and perspectives I hadn't considered. It should be an interesting thread.

I would hope people realize that we are represented by our government. If people don't like how they are being represented through our current government... vote for different people, as I will be doing.

    No.

The Feds have nuclear warheads, tanks, a secret agency capable of wiretapping every cellular phone in the United States, legitimacy brought by public elections, corporate investments, and kobe beef.

No, the average American is too lazy to even consider something like that. As long as American Idol keeps running and McDonalds stays open, we wont have a rebellion.

No, although I think we may see misdirected domestic terrorist attacks a la Oklahoma City. April 19, people, beware of April 19.

No matter, the feds have kobe beef and will inevitably subdue the enemies of our grand Republic.

Even though there are times when I feel it's warranted (certainly times where our founders would have already been engaged in rebellion),... there aren't the numbers of like minded and determined citizens that there once was (as a percentage of the population). Combine that with the realization that no-one has a clue of what to put in an overthrown government's place,... and you have what we have.

A few scattered clusters of willing and frustrated patriots,... all dressed up and no-where to go.

This is exactly why I said "I don't know". I have no idea what those people's levels of education and sanity are. (Mike Vanderboegh and the likes)

"Couple thousand" people they are claiming will march on Washington with their guns. To what end?

I certainly hope nothing happens on that day.

Not within the next ten years, unless the government get tyrannical within the next ten years and it is actually noticeable by a large number of people. I do see the government becoming tyrannical through incrementation.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

    Cicero Marcus Tullius
