"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"
Cicero Marcus Tullius
IMHO the American electorate will accept whatever the Government they elect chooses to thrust upon them.
"We all of us know down here that politics is a tough game. And I don't think there's any point in being Irish if you don't know that the world is going to break your heart eventually."-Daniel Patrick Moynihan, December 5, 1963
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo

No, there is nothing new going on here. The government only become corrupt and our enemy when the GOP isn't in charge. It happens every time. The very same people that were "keeping us safe" last year are now "jack-booted thugs" just because of republican rhytoric. We might as well get used to black helicopters and blue dress inspecter for the next few years. The hounding of a democrat president never ends.
I'm up for a rebellion against the empire though. Anyone in?
"To waste, to destroy, our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we ought by rights to hand down to them."~ Theodore Roosevelt (Message to Congress, Dec. 3, 1907)
Don't tell this to the tea-baggers. They're convienced that Obama has trippled their taxes, and has ran up 20 trillion dollars of debt.We pay considerably less in income taxes today than we have throughout most of the 20th century. Our current top tax rate is 35%, compared to being over 50% from '32 to '86. Other than the period between '88 and 92', we have the lowest top tax rate since 1931. The bottom income tax rate is 10%, the lowest since 1941.
