    This is, of course, absurd. Nobody's going to revisit health care legislatively for a long long time. And the "creeping public option" conspiracy theory, where the public option slowly puts all the private insurance companies out of business, ain't gonna happen because the law was passed without a public option.

    It may be human tissue, but it's not a being until it has consciousness. Such a SCOTUS decision as this thread suggests would be even more illogical than viability, which is dependent upon medical technology as much as the status of the fetus. And if conservatives really wanted to minimize abortions they should promote sexual education and birth control, as these reduce the abortion rate, not the legal status of abortion. Making abortion illegal mostly leads to unsafe abortion practices.

    You're right in a sense about rape making no difference. IF abortion were murder, then being raped would not give license to murder. But since abortion is safer than carrying the fetus to term, any abortion can be viewed as self-defense...
