Yes, reluctently of course but only as long as the abortion is done within the first trismester.

Just like the title says.

It's the year ???? and the anti-abortion movement has finally succeeded in banning elective abortions; making them illegal.

The United States Supreme Court has ruled that 'personhood' begins at conception and that children while in the womb have a 14th Amendment right to their lives, due process and equal protection under the law.

The Constitution remains as it is currently worded.

Would you demand and support an exception to the ban for cases where a woman was raped and she becomes pregnant?

I would agree to the rape exception in order to get the ban on the books, then I would work to remove the exception.

This is how Obama'Care is working with regards to single-payer, btw.

Thanks Jerry, I was wondering how long it would take for someone to propose this.

And,... for all the validity the arguments against the rape exception have,... (just so you know) I will still be fighting to defend a woman's right to abort (if she so chooses) in the event that the pregnancy is a direct result from her being raped.

Jerry, you are nothing if not honest.

This is, of course, absurd. Nobody's going to revisit health care legislatively for a long long time. And the "creeping public option" conspiracy theory, where the public option slowly puts all the private insurance companies out of business, ain't gonna happen because the law was passed without a public option.

Abortion is murder because it ends the life of another human being. Rape is no exception. The child can't help the fact that it was conceived through a horrible crime, but why should it also pay the ultimate price? Two wrongs don't make a right.

It may be human tissue, but it's not a being until it has consciousness. Such a SCOTUS decision as this thread suggests would be even more illogical than viability, which is dependent upon medical technology as much as the status of the fetus. And if conservatives really wanted to minimize abortions they should promote sexual education and birth control, as these reduce the abortion rate, not the legal status of abortion. Making abortion illegal mostly leads to unsafe abortion practices.

It all depends on why we are against abortion, if it's because we believe the fetus has a right to life, then that right is universal regardless of the conception circumstances. I understand your take on things and I appreciate it, but I must disagree because I think even a baby conceived through rape has the right to be born.

You're right in a sense about rape making no difference. IF abortion were murder, then being raped would not give license to murder. But since abortion is safer than carrying the fetus to term, any abortion can be viewed as self-defense...
