Do you drink, use tobacco products, or smoke marijuana?

Check all that apply.

I'm only judging from my own personal experience coming off of prescription morphine addiction.

The withdrawal was horrible. I stayed in bed for three weeks but when it was over I had no craving for morphine at all and still don't years later.

I would gladly go through the same withdrawal symptoms for cigarettes for three weeks if it was possible for me.

Of course everyone is different when it comes to addiction.

Yup, over 2 years later and I still want a cigarette something fierce.

I have a few beers or a mixed drink every couple of days.
I smoke shisha occasionally with friends.
Can't use marijuana cuz of job. Otherwise I probably would occasionally.

I'll drink or smoke marijuana every once in a while, Mainly socially. But I don't smoke tobacco for the reason that I don't like the smell of cigarettes.

I have never smoked, have never done drugs and haven't had a drink in close to 25 years. I don't see the point in any of it.

I've used them all in massive quantities. 12 steps later I find life much more enjoyable. It's been many years since I smoked pot, 4 1/2 for drinking, and I think about 3 for smoking.

Personally, I love beer, it was the highlight of my 3 years in Europe. Unfortunately it's incredibly poisonous to my current perception of life.

It's called 'pleasure'. Check it out in a dictionary. :)

I think you deserve a good conduct medal.:)

Cigarettes are my last remaining vice, along with coffee.

Come and sit on my front porch with me, and we'll smoke ciggies, slurp coffee and talk about how fabulous we are.

And how the Mormon Church has it all wrong... ;)

I smoke about a pack a day (down from three packs a day about 2 years ago, up form 0 packs a day a little over a year ago ).

Like Crippler, I drink maybe 3 or 4 times a year, but when I do, it's a massive drinking session of at least 20 beers, which averages out somewhere around 1-3 drinks per week.

If I drank less on the few days that I do drink, it's be not at all, really.

No weed for me, but I was shocked to see that Befuddled_Stoner does! :2razz:

Hmmm, getting lung cancer and puking in a toilet is pleasure? Not sure I agree with your definition.

Hmm... I don't recall talking about cancer or puking in toilets. I recall speaking about smoking, drinking, etc. You stated you didn't see the point. I merely pointed out the... point. Pleasure.

Some alcohol tastes good. Pleasurable.
To some, smoking a cig tastes good. Pleasurable.
To some, partaking in drugs (alcohol, cigs, caffeine, pot, cocaine, etc etc) *feels* good. Pleasurable.

Your "lung cancer" and "puking" comments only relate to excessive usage, and could be applied to pretty much everything. But that's not really the issue, now is it? Now, if you want to restate your comment to say "I don't get the point of EXCESSIVE usage", then I would agree with you.

He ought to try toking on the exhaust of a diesel bus sometime.

I smoked and drank in the past, heavilly on both counts. Even then I felt that both should be taxed. I stoped smoking because of heath reasons and stopped drinking because I recognized that I was an alcoholic. That said I do believe that there are those who can handle drinking. After thirty years in the field of corrections, I've seen the results of the use of illicit drugs among too many of our population to believe they should be legalized. The one exception, in my opinion, is the medisinal use of marijuana.

I'm not stupid enough to do that either. Go figure.

Sorry, I was not inferring that you were stupid. I'm just saying that there is plenty of air pollution that is as bad as drugs for your health.:)

Even retired, I have not the time nor money to waste on tabacco or any drugs...Good thing too, but with my anger management in a poor state.
"8" plus cups of coffee is bad enough, but these are I believe 4 ounce cups(check my machine).

A good read from a man in the field - I wish we had more of this.
I believe that the medicinal use of marijuana will end up being the same as the "medicinal" use of alcohol...
I, for one, do not think it should be a crime for a man to slowly take his own life via the drug route...

Marijuana would do wonders for your anger management.
You ever seen a violent pot head? Me neither.

So if I say I was a regular drinker and then saved up all my drinks from the work week for the weekend that still counts right because it will equal out to about the same?

I'll drink to that.:drink

My alchohol useage is maybe an average of 3-4 times a year. Which makes it not none, but its substantially less than 3 times a week.

That's almost me. I think I might be 7-8 times a year since I occasionally have a drink before dinner.....if we go out to eat.

But.

I've been toying with the idea of trying MJ to see if it would help with the chronic pain I have. I tried it when I was young and I really hated it but now they have medical MJ in cookies, etc. Would you still feel that "high" feeling if you took it that way?

I don't even know if it would help but it's something that pops into my head on a bad day.

:2wave:
