There is no such thing as bloody socialized medicine. We in Canada have Universal Health Care that is Federally mandated but carried out at the provincial (state) level. It works. It may not be perfect but every citizen has access to it. That is the way it should be.
You like your system, and that's fine. But keep your hands off our system. We aren't Canada, and we don't want to be Canada.

We already have that for people too. its called medicaid. yet its not enough for those that are hellbent on not taking any responsibility for their healthcare.

I'm not saying you have to be like us. All i'm saying is, there are merits to the system. It can work. It is not communism. This is not the cold war, that's been over for awhile dude.

I still just don't understand if ya'll were so worried about deficits and money, why did you allow a war to happen which is gonna cost you more then this health bill ever will EVER!

If you can find money to kill people... can't you find money to help people?

But you cannot speak for every person that doesn't have healthcare. Look at the end of the day you have the best health care the world can offer.

But only if you can pay for it.

Attitude!? This bill is being shoved down the country's throat. You're god damned right we have attitude. A purely partisan, party-line vote to change the entire country. Fear-mongering, lies, hypocrisy, arm-twisting, back door deals. How much of this did the left expect people to take?

I despise "the left" now. The Republicans are bad, but Democrats and liberals, they're the worst; they're intellectually bankrupt and pathologically dishonest. They've declared war on this country and American values. They're spitting on the Constitution and subsititing their own reality.

America, the Constitution has drawn its last breath. The government has won...

This is what I was talking about with rhetoric. Polling has it within 10 % for and against. It has strong support in this country, and some opposed are opposed because it does not go far enough. Just because you don't like it does not mean it is being "shoved down the throat" of this country.

Not trying to be a jerk but that ain't going to happen.

Might as well game the system, at least you can make some cash off of it.

You're right. I was naive enough to think that people care about anything besides themselves.

Bread and circuses. Human nature never changes and no empire lasts forever...

That is simply not true. Most of the people who support the bill do not have a strong opinion on it. Whereas most of the people who are against the bill are strongly against it.

I hate to be that way but it has become quite apparent to me that no one wants what we do, at the very least I can take advantage of their ignorance and laziness.

It sounds bad but it's a dog eat dog world and if people want to throw their hard earned money away via the government, I'm going to get mine.
The difference is that I manage my money very well, so it will just enrich me.

I'm far from rich, with a wife and two kids and I can afford it without government help. And its worth every penny. Health care is a resource, not a right. Reforming it to make it a "right" changes the very fundamentals of providing healthcare, reducing the top quality care we could be receiving instead.

You must have mistaken me for someone who cares. Just so you know, I think I'm done caring. I'm surrounded by slugs and parasites, most of whom are against me. The lines have been drawn...

Alright so if its such a resource. Is it right that people are denied care for arbritrary reasons, such as pre-existing conditions. When the company that denied that person is posting billions in profit. Somehow... that seems wrong. And the worst part is they cannot be held accountable. Government can be.

We can't find money to do either.

I'm not sure what I'll do if this bill passes. I dont' have it in me to "get mine".

P.S. - I'm not judging you. I just don't know how to think within that paradigm. I suppose I'll have to learn...

You're asking if it's right that a seller can choose not to sell its product to a particular buyer? Of course.

Let's say that an unemployed homeless guy walks into a bank and applies for a Jumbo ARM to buy a house. The bank knows that it will almost certainly be losing a ton of money on that guy. Do you think the bank should be required to give him that mortgage?

When the company that denied that person is posting billions in profit.

Which has what to do with the question of whether an individual business decision makes sense?

Somehow... that seems wrong. And the worst part is they cannot be held accountable.

How do you figure? If they're not choosing to do business with someone, then they have nothing to be accountable for.

Also, you forget that if people really believed that this was important, any one of the 50 states could have already passed a law requiring its insurers to do so. Why do you think that none did?

Government can be.

Yea, because when I look at Medicare's $80T unfunded liability, I think "accountability."

Health care has peoples lives in its hands! We're not talking about a ****ing Iphone.

A company for profit should not be in the business of keeping people alive.

Nobody is being denied health care. Insurance may not cover it, though. It's the company's choice.

:rofl

Now that's some funny ****. Since when was government held accountable? The only people who are even a little accountable to We the People is Congress, and they still act like a bunch of assclowns with no real repercussions.

What a ****ing joke.

Hm. I just saw a blogger note something interesting. If the GOP takes the House next year - as is likely - what if they simply refuse to fund the appropriations required for the immediate effects for this bill? They could stop its effects from happening without even needing to overturn a veto.

Either way, there's no way this bill will live to see its full effects kick in in 2014. Democrats just successfully made this the political issue of the next three years - and most of the country is against them on it. By the way, the last bill this unpopular to be passed on an entirely partisan vote was... the Kansas-Nebraska Act in 1854. And a war was fought over that one. The bill will be repealed.

We're close now.

Hey, good for you. I'm glad you're glad. Old person that you are. Owner of the nation - power pawn. Take my money and put your obligations on my shoulders. Fake champion...

Well, I figured a while back that no matter how hard I try to live virtuously, to live as an example, people think I'm stupid and there are 10000 people that try to punish me if I do so.

With that in mind, I will continue to live frugally but when they start the handouts I'll take it, need it or not.
The difference is I won't do it to finance "lifestyle," I'll do it to put more money towards investments, savings, anything to make me secure.

Make them regret it.

I mean we as libertarians know about all these free money programs, know how they work, know how to legally game them.

Is it right to force a company to take on individuals that will have conditions that bankrupt them, putting even more people on the unemployment count? If the government wants to force insurance companies to take on pre-existing conditions, they have to let them charge an increase in premium so that they can balance the transfer of risk. You cannot tell a third party payer that they have to assume more risk, but keep rates the same. They will go out of business. People have to assume some risk for their own health care. That is the only way we can maintain a for profit model that will provide progressive healthcare techniques, research, and equipment.

is it right to fine an individual that cannot afford health insurance? Is it right to fine an employer that cannot afford to provide group health insurance?
