The power of the white world is threatened whenever a black man refuses to accept the white world's definitions.
James A. Baldwin

People that espouse this kind of sentiment is also fostering racism. :? Can you not see that?

If racism is to end, THESE kinds of things need to cease. THESE sorts of ideas only separate and differentiate between races and THAT is the core of racism.

Excuse me, but I operate in the real world, where examples of racism are on display, everyday. Mr. Baldwin's viewpoint was obviously in response to the status quo then as now, which supports and promotes "white privilege", which is inherent and systemic racism. Indeed, if racism is to end, whites will have to stop demanding that they are entitled, and that entitlement dictates policy to persons of color.

What a load of crap. All minorities have equality of opportunity. Whites are not demanding entitlement, blacks are. This is racist bull****.

Excuse me, but you know that is not true. All minorities don't have equality of opportunity, hence contingency plans exist (i.e. Affirmative Action, ACLU, due process, etc...). Congress doesn't have one black Republican senator or representative.
Are you denying that "white privilege" exists, and that whites don't use it to their clear advantage?

If racism is to end then we need to stop thinking along the lines of "what color x needs to do" and projecting the faults of a few in a group across the whole. This goes equally for all races, whether it be gerneralizations such as "white elitism", black welfare leeching, jewish hatred of Palestinians, muslim - terrorists, polish stupidity, and so on, these are all inaccurate and discriminatory generalizations.

Instead we need to focus on what "we" need to all do to rid our ranks of those who would perpetuate the rift between races, when these faults are not the faults of a race, but rather the faults of individuals within the whole, and are fualts of us as humans. Your white elitism categorization is also damaging to race relations, and is also discriminatory.

Pardon me, but this is not Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, The Matrix, or Oz...this is the real world. And for you to deny redress and addressing blatant and covert racism in lieu of political correctness is absurd.
It's why sane and rational people are taking tea partiers to task, for their racist and anti-American stances.

Please. If I weren't reminded everyday that I'm a black person, and not in charge, I could easily overlook the BS. Unfortunately, that isn't the case...and political debate forums make it abundantly clear.

I live in the "real world" as well - a world that unfortunately is full of people like yourself that feed off of dividing people, inside of uniting people.

IMHO, in order for people to unite, they first have to unload most of all their preconceived notions (read : crap), and suspend judgment.....unfortunately, hard to do for most folks.

Does race matter in who told it? For example a black guy telling this joke to a white guy or a group of white guys telling each other this joke?

Nah, it's funny no matter what.....:)

How are you reminded every day. And how, pray tell, are you NOT in charge? I'm a woman, could I say that I'm reminded every day that I'm not in charge? That's a cop out. YOU are in charge of YOU - nobody else has that power - UNLESS YOU GIVE IT TO THEM.

Enlighten us.

How do 'whites' demand entitlements?

Examples. Please.

Of course they have equality of opportunity. Affirmative action is a system promoting equality of outcome and we do not need it. What, you can't make it on your own? I had to.

"White privilege" clearly does not exist. I read your link and learned it is coming out alongside the leftist women studies movement. This is the height of adopting a victimization viewpoint and efforts to reduce "white privilege" are transparently seen to be efforts to artificially level the cultural playing field without actually doing anything constructive nor earning it through hard work. It will reduce respect for the hard work efforts that others do. It is pure institutionalized racism.

White privilege absolutely exists.
My family is the perfect example of that.

By going into an upscale resale shop, and being "eyed down", like I'm going to steal something. Being told by the salesclerk not to "run through any bushes", in my DKNY jacket, out the clear blue sky. When riding a bus, and an outside seat becomes available, and the overweight white guy, moves to occupy 2 seats so that I can't sit down, though laden with packages.
Or, standing at a bus stop, and 2 little white ladies pull up in a late model Benz, and upon seeing me, in suit and tie, lock their doors and roll up their windows. I could go on and on...most of the time, I breathe a heavy sigh and roll my eyes. "Unless I give it to them"???? You have no idea what you're talking about.

Well you know you could look to the guy who is the President of the country and see that you could be in charge instead of sitting around and blaming whitey. You are perpetuating the rift your damn self, you have animosity towards another race, and this animosity seeps through in your posts.

As far as the whole tea party being condemned, no, because it was not the sentiment of the whole, the individuals in the party that act abhorrently need condemned, regardless of the fraction of the whole with these views may be, just as should be done to humans, do not judge by the color of the skin (and this includes judging whitey to be elite), judge each person individually on their own merit(s) and root out those who act divisively.

That is the most ridiculous response I have heard. You had the privileges that come from being born white to aid you. AA provides that qualified persons are not rejected on the basis of race or background. And those benefiting the most from AA have been "white women", statistically.

Oh, so because you don't like the message, you shoot the messenger.
I don't have a victimization viewpoint. I, too, have worked for everything that I have. And hard. You're in denial. I am not. If playing fields were level, there would be nothing to crow about. They are not. And until they are, folks like myself will point it out.
Question: Were there any black participants at the Renaissance Festival you attended?

Please.... This is your personal problem, there are plenty of blacks in supervisory positions.....;)
& leaders of countries....:doh

Oh, it's not a problem.......anymore. Indeed. And then there is Oprah.
I'd love to here her story of the crap she had to put up with to get where she is. Don't pretend or play games. I'm no child.

Please, next time you reply with a comment in the middle, correctly multi-quote it.

Your description of AA is actually Equal Opportunity law. No discrimination on the basis of race, among other things. AA forces the hiring of less qualified minorities and is an abomination.

You do have a victimization viewpoint. You feel that opportunities are owed to you as a result of your race.

Glad to hear you are working hard. Change your attitude and there is no telling what you will be able to accomplish.

The playing fields are not level because of a lack of education and wealth. It has nothing to do with racial inequality or racism. Many blacks are one's who inject racism into the mix and your "white privilege" is an excellent example of this.

Generally speaking, if you could choose, would you rather go into an interview as a white male or a black male?

I am not interested in specific exceptions to the general rule, just the rule itself.

I personally am smart enough to know that my chances of getting the job are increased if I enter an interview as a white male. And god help me, I am thankful that I am white for that and other similar reasons.

Knowing my own answer to this question, I know that racism is alive and kicking.

STOP Saying IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Why are your panties in a bunch? Do you have racist tendencies or are you thinned skinned?
