"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

There's definitely too much victimology in America today, and it gets tiresome. As for the poll, it seems biased and looking for a certain type of result.

Did I say that? I don't think so.

If you are at a comedy club and the context of you being there is to be entertained and to told humorous things, then you KNOW that what you are hearing is being told in jest. Takes the bite right out of the racist aspect of the comment. Context.

    Here's a specific example:

    1) Comedian at a comedy club: "Ah... Jews... gotta love those money-grubbing bastards".

    2) Politician discussing his constituency: "Ah... Jews... gotta love those money-grubbing bastards".

    3) CaptainCourtesy demonstrating the difference of contexts at Debate Poltiics: "Ah... Jews... gotta love those money-grubbing bastards".

Do you see the difference in contexts?

I would agree with your assessment about the poll. I'm not completely sure what it is asking, so I haven't voted.

How about this joke, but you do not know who is saying it-

Hey did you hear that Halmark is making a Barack Obama Christmas ornament? Now everyone can hang a nigger from a tree.

    Without context, impossible to determine.

    Yes, it seems pointless actually.

Does race matter in who told it? For example a black guy telling this joke to a white guy or a group of white guys telling each other this joke?

This poll must be a spin off from the thread about the prank in Walmart, am I correct?
