Which side has spent more money to support/oppose health care reform?

Groups opposing reform or groups supporting reform, and by how much?

No peeking, just your initial impressions on which side has spent more on advertising.

Since my initial reaction was "Groups That Oppose Health Care Reform by A Lot" I chose the exact opposite.

I don't think I really have much of a sense of it since I watch very little TV and I never watch 24/7 news networks. But I gave it my best shot, given the little I have seen.

If I were to wager, I'd bet on "groups who oppose" because there are more of them than "groups who support". Then again, since the majority of Americans do not support what Obama and Pelosi are trying to do, maybe the supporters have to scream that much louder.

I'll still vote for oppose, by a little.

Just wondering, when will you post the actual numbers?

groups supporting reform by a little, just because its hard to convince the majority of the people who do have adequate healthcare, that they should pay for the minority who dont have the luxury. I've always felt obama has been trying to fight an uphill battle

So far I've only seen tv ads saying tell Congress to support the reform. I feel Congress has made such a mess of what they have its not worth passing. I can support HC reform. I don't think we need the current plan. If the news is correct, to many backdoor deals have been made to try and get the votes needed.

Where do you see ads for health reform? I've only see 3, versus 5 or 6 against health reform.

Since it's you who posted this question it's a pretty safe bet to say that the pro-reform side spent more money. My impression, however, is that the anti-reform side spent more money considering the overwhelming majority of attention it got, and especially in light of the money coming from the health insurance lobbyists.

I'm simply chewing my fingernails down to the bones in anticipation of the answer.

Re: Which side has spent more money to support/oppose health care reform?

At last official count, groups supporting the bill had a slight edge, $99m to $86m. In the past few weeks, opponents of bill have come back with an additional $750k/day push from the Chamber of Commerce, but Pharmaceutical groups and other supporters just rolled out their own $12m ad campaign which they claim will equal the Chamber's ad buy.

End result, probably a slight edge to the supporters or something close to an even split. I had guessed it would have been a large divide, one way or the other.
