That topic is so broad that I think one can only speak in generalities since it would be possible to boil down the entire history of the united states into a forum post. So sorry, I would like to be more specific, but I think its not possible. But if you look at the history of our country, there has always been a dynamic between right and left, even from the founding fathers. The fact is that the constitution is the product of compromise and there has never been 100% agreement on the policies of this country. If you look at stuff like the 9/12 project and the common rhetoric that most conservatives has, it is among the line of "we are true americans and liberals are usurpers" when the fact is that the population has always been trying to pull the country in different directions.

So you don't have anything and just made that comment flippantly....

    concession noted.

Small representative government, was the ideals of the FF's, Tea party members want this.

Liberty is a cornerstone of what the FF envisioned. Tea party members want this.

What the FF's wanted is one thing, but the reality of the country is something different. Nice attempt at mischaracterizing my response though.

Cool Re: Tea Party or Coffee Party?

    I voted neither.

Here's a link to my ideas for an ideal party.

You made the claim, I'm asking you what you mean.

Re: Tea Party or Coffee Party?

Because if you look at my response, I was talking about culture, not politics. Our country has multiple cultures and is constantly taking on new influences as we continue to have immigrants and different ethnic populations grow. I specifically did not refer to the FFs or the constitution because that was not what I was talking about.

The Tea Party movement is as much about promoting a certain identity (even though they deny it) as it is about political goals. It fails to recognize that people simply have different view points, which is something I find lacking in that movement.
