How do you feel about Daylight Saving Time?

How do you feel about the time change?

  • It should be opposite, with Daylight Saving Time in winter, not summer

It's that time again, to 'jump forward' and lose an hour of sleep. How do you feel about the time change?

I don't feel any particular way about it. Should I?

Well, it was Ben Franklin's idea, and most of his ideas were pretty good.

Daylight Saving (no "S") Time is ridiculous. We're all just lying to ourselves about what time it really is. And Ben Franklin proposed it as a joke -- it was actually a busybody named George Vernon Hudson who invented it because he thought it was horrible that people were actually sleeping instead of doing something productive.

I like the extra hour of daylight in the evening, but of course I have to get up on sunday.

All men have "feelings" and opinions, even about things that a majority feel are a good idea...
I guess that the TeaBag party is against DST as well..
Every time DST rolls around, havoc occurs.
I'll reset the 10 to 20 timepieces that we have and say nothing.
Then the wife will do the same, and say nothing.. Several days later, I'll forget and reset the clocks a third time..
Hilarious, I'm retired, so it matters little.:rofl
The solution, other than proper communication, is to have one of the "atomic" clocks that does things automatically, and to pitch all of the old junk!

The word 'feel' has several meanings, including being a synonym for the word 'think'.

4 a : to be aware of by instinct or inference b : believe, think <say what you really feel>

2 a : to be conscious of an inward impression, state of mind, or physical condition b : to have a marked sentiment or opinion <feels strongly about it>

You're the epitome of the "Assume" cliche - write your congressman about a new entitlement for tax payer provided clock changing services... anything to create more government is a good thing. Maybe while they're there 2x a year, you can request they feed you, then wipe & flush.

Since you're retired, I'd think resetting the clocks provides you a little something to do around the house with the other puttering two times a year. A little exercise never hurt anyone and a little purpose in life is a good thing. Just stop complaining and get the step stool out and change the clocks... :2razz:

Tell me which one you meant to convey in your question.

Vote on what is given in the poll or vote 'other' and tell us what you think of Daylight Saving Time.

Do I really need to explain this to you? ;)

I enjoy the sun not coming up at 5:00 AM in the summer. Other than that I don't feel too strongly about it one way or the other.

I voted "Other" because I'm ambivalent. Kinda like taking a dump every morning. It's just something you do. I don't feel emotionally about it either way. I'm a man, not a little girl... I have the emotional response of a tree as it is - somehow I just can't conjure up anything about DST. :3oops:

I think DST is unnecessary in an era where we have easy access to electricity. I hate that the sun can be up until 8:45 pm. Especially in this state where it is frackin hot during summer.

You sound a bit like Dr Laura. Did you ever listen to her? She used to regularly rake callers over the coals for using the word 'feel' in its dictionary accepted meaning for 'think'.

Kind of a whiny, female thing to do, I think...;) I thought she was a regular shrew, if you ask me.

You should move up north where the sun stays up until 10 PM

While it's probably pointless today, I have no problem with it, it doesn't harm me or pick my pocket, so I entirely ignore it. All of my clocks automatically set themselves forward or back anyhow, I usually don't even notice.

Only a white man would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom of a blanket and have a longer blanket.

Only thing I know about Dr. Laura was she is or was some conservative radio host who gave out advice and had a spat with Howard Stern like 10 years ago. I only heard Howard's side of the story. Shrew? I prefer "Stoic".

That was one smooth talking snakeoil salesman who sold them on that one.

I freaking hate it. For some bizarre reason, I have this odd connection to time. I can go all day without looking at a clock and know exactly what time it is (well, within 2-3 minutes). Dammit, I haven't looked at clock since lunchtime and once I wrote that sentence decided to guess the time. I said 7:11, and the dang clock said 8:11. So it just messes me up. When I was little, it used to make me sick according to my mother. My kid's been a basket case all day, so it's already effected him. :moody

And I hate that they've bumped "fall back" to after Halloween. Who the heck wants to go trick or treating in light?!

Can we please get rid of this archaic nuisance??

Actually, I'm feeling less good about it today than I was yesterday.
I suspect I'll be feeling even worse about it tomorrow.
It's one of those things that's more appealing in theory than in practice, I think.

It's essential. It is to make up for those five hours of each day that we spend staring at the wall, thru a window, or trying to remember the correct way to spell Napoleon.
