Re: How do you feel about Daylight Saving Time?

I freaking hate it. For some bizarre reason, I have this odd connection to time. I can go all day without looking at a clock and know exactly what time it is (well, within 2-3 minutes). Dammit, I haven't looked at clock since lunchtime and once I wrote that sentence decided to guess the time. I said 7:11, and the dang clock said 8:11. So it just messes me up. When I was little, it used to make me sick according to my mother. My kid's been a basket case all day, so it's already effected him.

And I hate that they've bumped "fall back" to after Halloween. Who the heck wants to go trick or treating in light?!

Can we please get rid of this archaic nuisance??

How do you feel about Daylight Saving Time?

Actually, I'm feeling less good about it today than I was yesterday.
I suspect I'll be feeling even worse about it tomorrow.
It's one of those things that's more appealing in theory than in practice, I think.

It's essential. It is to make up for those five hours of each day that we spend staring at the wall, thru a window, or trying to remember the correct way to spell Napoleon.
"I do not underestimate the ability of fanatical groups of terrorists to kill and destroy, but they do not threaten the life of the nation. Whether we would survive Hitler hung in the balance, but there is no doubt that we shall survive al-Qa'ida." -- Lord Hoffmann

It's a scam masquerading as an energy policy.

Far from saving energy, we actually use more. We stay out later because of the extra hour of daylight.

Farmers hate daylight saving time; just try doing your chores in the dark.

The whole thing is a great big lie.

Actually, farmers don't need clocks. They can get up with the crow of the cock, and work until dusk.

Actually, farmers' children have chores that need doing before they go to school and it's dark during daylight saving time. Farmers are not isolated from society as a whole. Daylight saving time is just one more burden for them.

Good point. Also, modern farmers often have day jobs, or their wives do.

Well you know me. I'm just so grateful in the fall to have that extra hour to help the poor and elderly who need the extra love and attention.
